Hi, I asked these questions several weeks ago but didn't got any answer.
They were no rulemonger wandering around at this date :
1) I'm still confused about the way "hand" weapons work. Espececially
since I know some rules have been changes from Jyhad to VTES.
When you use a Sengir Dagger or a Bastard Sword, should they be considered
as a specific weapon or as an equipment that modifies your hand stike ?
More precisely:
- Does someone with a natural 2 hand Domage (e.g. Bianca)
will do 2 Agg. dammage with Sengir Dagger ?
- Similar questions with Bang-Nakh
- If an acting vampire strikes with a Bang Nakh, and the blocking vampire
answers with a Fast Hands at First Strike, is the acting vampire strike
cancelled or simply diminished ?
2) Ambrosius: Where goes an animated retainer when he is burnt before
his counter are burn out ? In other words, can you use effectively
Ambrosius with Ghoul Escorts ?
Thanks,
== Herve Guillemet

An answer to my own post:
I just realized from recent posts fro LSJ that both these issues
where discussed recently in the newsgroup, sorry.

LSJ gave the following definition for Hand Strike:
<A strike done without Strike: cards or with a Strike: card specifying:
use your hand with....>
If I understand well, cards specifying "+N hand damage" do an amount
of damage equals to the base Hand Damage + N, but is not considered a
Hand Strike. Thus:
- Bianca with a Bastard Sword will do 3 damage, but
- If a Steal Weapon with First Strike is used against Biance, her whole
strike will fizzle.
- Bangh Nakh is to be considered the same way.
- Scorpion Sting can't be made aggravated by a Wolf Claws !!
Can LSJ or Shawn confirm ?
: 2) Ambrosius: Where goes an animated retainer when he is burnt before

This seems to be one of the pending question.

I don't see why not, seeing as Wolf Claws is not a strike card, but
a damage resolution/general effect card. But correct me if I am wrong (this
may effect a deck of mine in a big way).

I believe it is--that (at least) was the design intent.

Tell me about it... but I *think* it's getting better.

Yes to all, with my definition.
Judging by the muddled templates used by other cards in the AH series,
though, I'd guess that Scorpion Sting is meant to be a hand strike.
Either Change the definition to "Any non-ranged, non-weapon strike
based on innate hand damage, or an innate non-ranged strike" (that
last part should tell you that this is not the "proper" definition,
but a definition cut to match card texts), or
Use (as yet unofficial) errata to make the Scorpion Sting a hand strike,
modelled after the errata that makes the Tiger Claws *not* a hand strike.
[Or just resign yourself to having Scorpion Sting *not* be a hand strike,
which is what may be the case]
