Hi, for those of you who are interested, on the tournament web site you can find lots of pictures taken at the event: http://www.planetharry.at/crimsonwar/ 30 Methuselahs from the Chech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria gathered on this rainy Saturday to fight for the Assamite Kukri Dagger. After three rounds these were the finalists: Name GW VP TP Lubomir Boda 2 7 162 Tibor Morosz 1 6.5 162 Stefan Ferenci 1 6 114 Marcus Mock 1 5.5 156 Julian Milletits* 1 5 126 Ferenc Vasadi 1 5 114 *Julian couldn't play in the final, so Ferenc as 6th seed stepped in to take his place. This was the seating order of the final round: Tibor (Brujah Debate) --> Lubomir (Nosferatu Politics) --> Ferenc Vasadi (Nergal) --> Stefan (Ravnos Horde) --> Marcus (Kiasyd Bleed) The game started off slowly, but Nergal was able to get Rutor's Hand, a Pulse and Contagion. Then he put some pressure on his prey. Stefan played an early Week of Nightmares in an effort to oust his prey. Nergal was faster and ousted Stefan and Marcus fairly soon. After that a lot of talking ensued. The remaining three players tried to strike a deal that would give them victory. Ferenc was close to striking a deal with first his prey then his predator. Tibor managed to put an Anathema and a Blood Hunt on Nergal, but didn't use his weenie Brujah to claim the 10 pool for the Anathema. Then in a combat where he was close to burn Nergal Lubomir decided to settle for a secure second place and let Nergal live. So Ferenc went on to try to oust his prey. Although Tibor had a Second Tradition for Volker and Jaroslav, Ferenc luckily had /drew Psychomachia, Lost in Crowds and finally Daring the Dawn to win the day and the Assamite Kukri Dagger. Congratulations to Ferenc for excellent play and his tournament win! Vtes is very popular in Oustria. It's the one country in which games rarely last longer than 20-30 minutes, due to national pride. Unfortunately most foreigners don't understand the unique Oustrian play style. In fact, it is not unheard of to accuse someone of being an Oustrian if he is killed too quickly in a game. "You play just like an Oustrian." Matt Morgan

The simpliest way to find Czech Rep. is to search for a world map or learn it in school :) ( then you could never encounter "Here live Dragons" problem :D )

[ quoted text not captured ] I had the good fortune to watch* the Oustrian national champion play a pick-up game last year. It was amazing! Not only was he the first to be ousted, he was ousted before he took a single turn -- an act which I can assure you no other player could possibly duplicate for the remainder of the game. And now for the Riddle Phantastique: How many players were in the game at its start? -davey! *: Story is apocryphal, but riddle is genuine.

Maybe because ( with Qualifier exception ) we don't use mostly straight S&B and S&VOTE and everybody are trying to make their decks more weird than they should :] And I've found that our players love to talk, negotiate single actions and so on ;) It a game for fun after all, right ? ;) ( We've a standard 2,5 time limit right now, so don't worry for the future :] )

Here's a better riddle: ...what is the smallest possible game in which a player can be ousted before his first turn? (And how does the oust occur?) Hint: It's smaller than 31 players.

Judicious use of Info Highway, MalkDementia, Reversal of Fortunes, and Kine Resources Contested. P1: Info Hwy. Bring out 2-cap Malk and 1-cap. P2: MalkDementia, Reversal of Fortunes, Bring out 4 1-caps. P1: MalkDementia, Reversal of Fortunes, bring out 2 3-caps. P2: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 27 pool) P1: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 24 pool) P2: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 21 pool) P1: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 18 pool) etc.

First player plays Anarch Revolt. Next 15 players play Personal Involvment and player 17 cancels them all. (Unclear if I may play this card if I have as much pool as prey. If that's ok then sixteen players should suffice) Sten During *** Free account sponsored by SecureIX.com *** *** Encrypt your Internet usage with a free VPN account from http://www.SecureIX.com ***

[ quoted text not captured ] Except that P3 loses 9 pool each turn, not just 3: P1: Info Hwy. Bring out 2-cap Malk and 1-cap. P2: MalkDementia, Reversal of Fortunes, Bring out 4 1-caps. P1: MalkDementia, Reversal of Fortunes, KRC; bring out 2 3-caps (P3 at 27 pool). P2: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 18 pool) P1: Reversal of Fortunes and 3 KRCs (P3 at 9 pool) P2: 3 KRCs (P3 at 0 pool)

Could go faster though. P1: IH, 2-cap Malk, 1 Igo the Hungry P2: MD, RoF, 4 1-caps. Agree to oust P3 first. P1: MD, Igo calls RoF. Pushes it with Business Pressure and P3 in disgust selfousts. [ quoted text not captured ] Nice. I guess that's a typical two-player game in Oustria.

[ quoted text not captured ] Enough with the silly examples. A few weeks ago during downtime at the NEQ in Northfield, New Jersey, a few of us were enjoying a Duffin Draft. Colin Riggs managed to accidentally oust himself during his first influence phase by bringing out Allonzo Montoya and a 3 cap when his predator had just gotten Lorrie Dunsirn. One must assume that Colin has some Oustrian heritage. Matt Morgan

Well, Bea did something similar, albeit a LOT later in the game. She had my ser/cam/Judge Camarilla Segregation deck. Chose to burn Form of Corruption in order to get an ousting minion next turn... The cost of the card is 3 pool. I have 30 pool. You have 30 pool. You play Personal Involvement. The cost of PI is 3 pool. After paying for PI, you have 27 pool. You can therefore play it for the intended effect. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR. EBD690ECD7A1FB457CA2 NO-ONE IS SCREAMING. 13D7E668C3695D623D5D THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Hmm. Yes. And one of the three caps that P1 brings out on his second turn would then have to be a 2-cap instead (since he gets only 3+2 = 5 transfers).
