Dear LSJ, I need your official answers to the followings: 1. My vampire has no blood, so she hunts. Someone blocks the action. I play Change of Target. My vampire untaps. Must she hunt again, or not? 2. A Methusaleah declares a blocking minion, but the opponent increases its stealth above the blocking minions intercept. May a Mathusaleah choose an other blocking minion, or the action succeeds? 3. There is a combat between the acting and opposing minion. In the damage resolution phase the opposing minion loses its last blood (so she has now 0). The acting prevents all damage, and plays Pulled Fangs. The opposing minion burns or not? 4. The superior version of Cloak The Gathering can be played by a tapped vampir? 5. If a camarilla vampire calls a Praxis seizure, can sabbat vampires cast a vote? Someone blocks the action. > I play Change of Target. My vampire untaps. Must she hunt again, or >not? > No. There are a couple of reasons for it. 1) A vampire who has no blood on them HAS to hunt - as you seem to already know. 2) Change of Target says, on the card text, that if that minion takes an action again that turn, it cannot be the same action. Right? (Checking the card text - it's possible I'm wrong because I'm using the card text text file from Wizards which is sometimes wrong - I'll just get my copy of the card). Yeah, that's right. So what happens? I'm untapped and HAVE to hunt but I'm bound, by Change of Target, to not hunt again. Well, in this situation there is a standing rule which says that if you HAVE to do something which you are forbidden to do, you do nothing. >2. A Methusaleah declares a blocking minion, but the opponent increases >its > stealth above the blocking minions intercept. May a Mathusaleah >choose an > other blocking minion, or the action succeeds? Yes, the same Methuselah may choose a different blocker. Let's say the following happens: You have Sheldon, Lord of the Clog out and I have two vampires - Giuiliano Vincenzi (who has fortitude) and Dieter Kleist (who has auspex). Sheldon decides that he'll bleed me. For some reason, I decide that I'd like to block with Giuliano (stupidly spelt 2 capacity Gangrel). Maybe the fact that he's got Fortitude means that I can prevent damage from Sheldon, most likely. Sheldon was pretty clever though. His methuselah plays a Swallowed by the Night for +1 stealth (not a maneuver as we are not in combat yet). "Oh no," says I, "Giuliano has no intercept at all. What shall I do?" Well because I *can* still block with Dieter, Dieter decides that he'll play an Enhanced Senses that I have in my hand to get +1 intercept. And the entire thing can go on and on - if I found I couldn't block with Dieter but drew a card which would let a third vampire of mine block, then that would work as well cos I could still block with them. > >3. There is a combat between the acting and opposing minion. In the >damage > resolution phase the opposing minion loses its last blood (so she >has now 0). > The acting prevents all damage, and plays Pulled Fangs. The opposing >minion > burns or not? > Unfortunately, yes. Pulled Fangs is completely legal here because the acting minion inflicted more damage (1) to the opposing minion than the opposing minion did to him (0 - because it was prevented). So we can play Pulled Fangs here. Now, Pulled Fangs deals 1 aggravated damage. To take a slightly different tack, what happens if Basilia hits you for one hand damage - which is aggravated because of her special ability - and you have no blood. Well, you have no blood when you take aggravated damage and so are burned. That's right there in the rules. So, Pulled Fangs also does 1 aggravated damage. So, the opposing minion is burned. Now, a lot of people disagree with this. When Vampire: The Eternal Struggle was still only Jyhad, aggravated damage worked slightly differently (I won't bore you with how) and Pulled Fangs couldn't burn a minion. It would only put you into torpor. So people think that it over-powered it in V:TES so they say, as a house rule, that Pulled Fangs won't burn vampires. Which is alright for a house rule BUT if you play in an official tournament, that won't apply. >4. The superior version of Cloak The Gathering can be played by a tapped >vampir? > Yes. There are no rules which state a minion has to be untapped to play action modifiers. Indeed, because a vampire is tapped when they attempt an action, they normally are tapped when they play action modifiers (sorry, LSJ, if that sounds like an exact quote of something you said the other day). >5. If a camarilla vampire calls a Praxis seizure, can sabbat vampires >cast a vote? > Yes, as odd as it seems. On all votes, anybody can vote. This includes Camarilla, Sabbat and Independent (say, Thetmes with 2 votes or the high capacity Giovanni whose name eludes me). However, there are a couple of exceptions but these only occur because of card text. A couple of the Sabbat votes say that Camarilla vampires can't vote and the Camarilla can get their own back with Closed Session. These are the only ways to stop people voting simply because of their sect. -- James Coupe (remove your inhibitions to reply) If I jumped I should not see the stones rise up to meet me, the fog would hide them from me. The pain would be sharp and sudden as she said. The fall would break my neck. It would not be slow, like drowning. It would soon be over.

In the >damage > resolution phase the opposing minion loses its last blood (so she >has now 0). > The acting prevents all damage, and plays Pulled Fangs. The opposing >minion > burns or not? He burns. no blood to pay for the Pulled fang damage. The combo is legal only if the acting vampire did more damage than the defender. As you said the acting vampire prevented all damage, so as long as he succesfully did one point or more to the opposing vampire at close range it's a legal move. > >4. If a camarilla vampire calls a Praxis seizure, can sabbat vampires >cast a vote? Damn, I am only 4/5. I have an idea, but I don't want to lead you astray, so I will let someone who actually bought Sabbat answer you. I have never found any for sale. I don't think Sabbat can vote on a Camerilla issue, such as Praxis Seizure, Camerilla Exempliary, etc... but I am not positive. Jason

All correct. I may just retire :). Thanks for the typing, James. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) Official VtES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. (*) - Subject to review by Rules Team
