[LSJ] Leather Jacket - "Lingering" Untap?

I looked and looked, but couldn't find a ruling about this. Sorry in advance if I missed it. If a minion equips with a Leather Jacket and manages to burn that Jacket during the same minion phase in which he got it, will he untap at the end of the turn? I would assume he does, but I'm not sure, since the card that provides the untap is no longer in play. John Eno
