I would like to get some imput on the following questions. i was wondering about them, so tell me what you think. 1.) can you choose not to strike a vampire at all? on page 32 it says "you cannot opt not to have your minion strike a blow during combat and later change your mind." this leads me to believe that, in fact it is totally legal to not choose a strike. 2.) can a blocking minion use a hand attack when choosing his\her strike on page 31 it says "Then the blocking minion can respond by using either a weapon or a strike card." i think that this is a really dumb question but hey you never know. 3.) can you play a out of turn master during your turn when it is not your master phase? 4.) i see NO reason why you can bleed anyone besides your prey. fisrt, in the definition of BLEED page 21 it states "bleed your prey..." Second, on page 27 it states that bleeding is a D action. However, nowhere does it say that you may direct a D action however you feel. It actually doesnt even imply that, it does state that only the affected Meth may attempt to block. Can anyone tell me WHY they feel like you can?

A common misinterpretation by many people - so common that WotC issued an official ruling: You must choose a strike when it is your turn to do so. You cannot choose 'No Strike' as your strike. (Note - this does not mean you have to use an _effective_ strike; perfectly legal to use hands at long range...) : 2.) can a blocking minion use a hand attack when choosing his\her strike : on page 31 it says "Then the blocking minion can respond by using : either a weapon or a strike card." i think that this is a really : dumb question but hey you never know. Absolutely. Blocking minion follows all the same rules for combat as the attacking minion (including that he/she can use hands for damage) except that the active minion has to make the necessary choices/declarations first in any combat round. : 3.) can you play a out of turn master during your turn when it is not your : master phase? No. Again, a ruling from WotC: You may only play an OOTM when it is not your turn. : 4.) i see NO reason why you can bleed anyone besides your prey. fisrt, : in the definition of BLEED page 21 it states "bleed your prey..." : Second, on page 27 it states that bleeding is a D action. However, : nowhere does it say that you may direct a D action however you feel. : It actually doesnt even imply that, it does state that only the : affected Meth may attempt to block. Can anyone tell me WHY they feel : like you can? People think they can because WotC says they can. Another official errata to the rules: any bleed action card which has a (D) symbol on it allows you to bleed a methuselah of yo9ur choice. This is an _old_ ruling, but there seems to be a fair amount of controversy about this decision in this group lately. In case you care, I'm in the camp that thinks this ruling broke more than it fixed. Shane Travis | A fanatic is someone who redoubles his effort sht...@duke.usask.ca | when he has forgotten his aim. Well it's the same thing in Jyhad. Use your head, not the book! ;-) I won't answer you by saying "in page x it says" etc... I'm playing this game since it went out in the market, I asked at least 2 questions a day to Tomas R Wylie, I think I know how to play. ;-) > 1.) can you choose not to strike a vampire at all? on page 32 it says > "you cannot opt not to have your minion strike a blow during combat > and later change your mind." this leads me to believe that, in fact > it is totally legal to not choose a strike. You can choose Hand Damage, a Weapon or a Strike card as a strike unless specified by a card that was played earlier. > 3.) can you play a out of turn master during your turn when it is not your > master phase? You can't use Out-of-play Masters when it's not your turn. This is the meaning of "Out-of-play". Not during your turn. > 4.) i see NO reason why you can bleed anyone besides your prey. fisrt, > in the definition of BLEED page 21 it states "bleed your prey..." > Second, on page 27 it states that bleeding is a D action. Many (not all) bleed cards have (D) on them and can therefore be directed against any Meth (not yourself). Nil carborundum illigitimi, James R. McClure Jr. The OS/2 Apostle <insert disclaimer here>

Many (not all) bleed cards have (D) on them and can therefore be >directed against any Meth (not yourself). All bleed cards have (D) on them. Night Moves' text restricts the (D) to your Prey. Cat Burglary has been "fixed" so that the inferior version does not have (D) on it, even tho' it was printed that way. (But it still has a (D) on the superior, no matter how you slice it). The others: Computer Hacking, Enchant Kindred, Govern the Unaligned, Legal Manipulations, and Social Charm all have a (D) with no futher explanation. The only card you may be considering as a bleed card without a (D) is the Laptop computer, which is not a bleed card at all. (Not that I think that this is what you thought, just trying to be complete :-).

Many (not all) bleed cards have (D) on them and can therefore be >directed against any Meth (not yourself). In answer to the original question, the rules contradict themselves. They say (12.3.1) "You may attempt to bleed the player who is your prey by declaring a bleed action." The fixed rules (I think) do say that a (D) action can be directed against any Methuseleh. (The original rules don't). Hence a (D) bleed is a contradiction - you can (D) anybody, but only bleed your prey. There are no bleed actions cards without a (D). The rules state that a action without a (D) is not directed. A non-(D) bleed would be a strange bird indeed, blockable by your predator. The printed phrasing of Cat Burglary allows only one interpretation - that a plain (D) bleed can affect only your prey, because the superior has the (otherwise redundant) "Bleed any Methuselah". Night Moves has "Bleed your predator or prey", which is not germane to this disagreement. Curt Adams (curt...@aol.com)
