how are unique masters contested? i only remember rules about contesting master: unique locations and titles. can unique equipment be contested? if so how? can anyone point out where in the rules it says this -- Peter Gordon WILSMORE, cs95...@cs.uwa.edu.au, First Year Student

This includes *all* unique cards: Vampires, unique Allies/Retainers, Unique Masters, Unique Locations, Unique Equipment, etc. This is describe under section 8, which never makes any reference to locations. Titles are not cards and are Contested in a different way. [17.2] -- L. When a second (or subsequent) copy of the Unique Thing comes into play, all copies of the UT are "contested." This has the effect of removing all copies of the UT from the game (are not affected by any cards which do not explicitly state that they affect contested cards). During the Untap Phase of each Methuselah who lost control of a copy of the UT, that Meth may either 1) "contest" - that is continue to oppose all other Meths for control of the UT or 2) "yield" - that is cease opposing all other Meths for control of the UT. When you "contest", you pay one pool for each UT that you are contesting control of. When you "yield", you burn that copy of the UT (and all cards that the UT directly owns [equipment/retainers]). When only one Meth remains with a copy of the UT "in contestment" and that Meth's Untap Phase rolls around, that Meth returns the UT back to play and may utilize the UT immediately (as appropriate). Contesting vampire titles works the same way, except: 1) only the title [not represented by any card] it removed from play; 2) the vampires who had possessed the contested title pay one blood each Untap Phase to "contest"; 3) a vampire in torpor must yield. I hope this helps. Nil carborundum illigitimi, James R. McClure Jr. The OS/2 Apostle <insert disclaimer here>
