Sudden Reversal. Anything that cancels the effect of R. as it is played

Right. If you start a new combat when R. ends the first one, R. has still
ended the first one.
If you cancel R. with Sudden Reversal, though, then R. doesn't end
combat - you complete the combat as normal.
