Hi Can I activate Reliquary, then transfer it, then use it again? I'm not sure, I suppose I can because Reliquary restricts it user about burning blood just once, but I prefer to ask first and deckbuild later.

[ quoted text not captured ] well, it does not req the card to tap. So I would say that you may.

[ quoted text not captured ] Given that it's now a different "this Assamite" I'd say yes. In fact, it's not even unique... so why not try to bring out a few and give Guillaume a run for his money. Brent Ross

[ quoted text not captured ] No. It's only usable once per turn. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/6179663eb2d209be

That post talks about Camarilla Vitae Slave using the "during X, do Y" template, which is not the case for Reliquary: Shango Remains. Reliquary: Shango Remains [Promo-20080203] Cardtype: Equipment Clan: Assamite Equipment. Choose an Assamite in your ash heap or burn 1 pool to choose an Assamite in your uncontrolled region. Remove that Assamite from the game or burn this reliquary. Once per turn, if this Assamite is ready, he or she may burn 1 blood to give you +2 hand size for the remainder of the turn; this ability cannot be used during combat. Camarilla Vitae Slave [Sabbat:R] Cardtype: Retainer Clan: Lasombra Cost: 2 blood Retainer with 1 life. The vampire with this retainer increases his or her capacity by 1. During each of his or her controller's master phases, he or she may choose a basic level Discipline he or she possesses. He or she then has the chosen Discipline at the superior level until his or her controller's next master phase.

Yeah. I noticed that when I read the cards and did the rather lengthy search for a precedent. But, of course, since the whole point of the cited post's reference to the during X template was to note that that template effected a "once per" restriction, and the Reliquary offers an explicit "once per" restriction, well, you can see how the result follows. Yeah. Wasn't sure you'd seen it, and the Reliquary could be interpreted as just preventing the same Assamite from using it more than once each turn so I wanted to make it clear right away. If the "this" Assamite does not mean that the once per turn limitation is only for the vampire currently holding the Reliquary, would it not also allow that "this" Assamite (e.g.. Basir) could burn blood for the +2 hand effect, even if the Reliquary was now in the possession of Thucimia?

Restated for clarity: Once per turn, if the bearer ("this Assamite") is ready, you can use the effect of the Reliquary. The effect of the Reliquary is: "he or she may burn 1 blood to give you +2 hand size for the remainder of the turn; this ability cannot be used during combat." That's what LSJ's getting at, I believe. - D.J.

[ quoted text not captured ] I completely agree with you Meej. What you have said above is 100% what the intended effect most likely is. However, that is not what the card states. The card's use of "this Assamite" has other meanings, amongst which is that if the Assamite changes clan to whatever, he/she can longer use the ability. So the card cannot be used if the bearer is not an Assamite, and/or if the previous bearer this turn who was an Assamite did make use of the card's effect. Which is not what it says, but what it's effect is.

Where <some effect> is conditional upon the bearer being Assamite and ready. The card text "once per turn" means that if the effect was used already this turn, then it cannot be used again this turn.

[ quoted text not captured ] Okay, sorry if you have split ends now ;)
