Good evening. These questions have troubled my mind recently: - The Mehemet of the Ahl-i-Batin may burn a disc. card and a blood with a (D) action. Can he do just one of these effects (e.g. just burn a blood)? - If I have n minons with sup. obfuscate, can I modify the action of one of them with n Cloak the Gatherings? - [previously debated, I know, but I still don't know the answer] are bleed reductions due to Telepathic Counters go negative? (e.g. bleed for 1-> reduce by 2 -> play Bonding. Result:?) - Are "(D) bleed at +X" cards able to be used agains other meths other than your prey? (if the card itself doesn't say it, that is) Thank you. David Pontes 8[

Judging by the way Cryptic Mission is handled (esp. the superior) version, you can use Mehemet's special ability to burn a blood on a vampire without burning a skill card - based purely on card text (as the ruling on Cryptic Mission relies on card text over card concept). And, in any case, you could burn a skill card possesed by an empty vampire, who would ignore the burn blood effect (as usual). > - If I have n minons with sup. obfuscate, can I modify the >action of one of them with n Cloak the Gatherings? Yes. (This is official) > - [previously debated, I know, but I still don't know the answer] are >bleed reductions due to Telepathic Counters go negative? (Ofiicially, this is just a ruling, but it is actually errata to the section of the rules regarding who can be the target of a bleed.) -- L. IMO what happens with cloak the gathering is that n vamps *play* it but only one *uses* it, therefore preventing this move. But if it's official... Of course that by the rulebok I'm prevented to use 2 but can freely use 3 or more... :) Welcome back Scott! David Pontes 8[

I'm afraid I'm not aware of that one... That Cryptic Mission can be directed at an empty vampire (who will ignore the burn blood effect), and that the superior version will still give the acting vampire a blood, even though the target didn't have one to lose. So (assuming precedent is going to be used for this new card), even though the blood is lost (in concept) "because" the skill card was burned, the blood will still be lost even if there is no skill card to burn. (This would also follow from the "partial effects of cards may be used" rule from the Anarch Troublemaker ruling - even though that rule was not used in the Second Tradition ruling). >> > - If I have n minons with sup. obfuscate, can I modify the >> >action of one of them with n Cloak the Gatherings? >> Yes. But if it's >official... Nah - they each use/play their own to modify the acting minion's stealth. "use" and "play" are two terms for the same thing (except that you can also "use" a card in play). From: aa...@cats.ucsc.edu (Thomas R Wylie) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad Subject: DESIGN TEAM RULINGS: 5/9/95 Date: 9 May 1995 07:17:48 GMT Message-ID: <3on4us$l...@darkstar.UCSC.EDU> 2) Sections 7.2.2 and 14.4 have conflicting statement about how many times an action modifier may be played during a single action. Section 7.2.2 is correct; the same *minion* may only play a given action modifier once, but potentially each minion controlled by a player may use the same card to modify an action. This means that all of your vampires may play Cloak the Gathering on the same action (assuming they all have superior obfuscate), that an action modifier can be repeated if Mask of 1000 Faces is used, and so on. > Welcome back Scott!
