Ok, if you have a minion with first strike (ie. Muddled Vampire Hunter) that hits a vampire with enough damage to send the vampire to Tourpor but that vampire has prevent damage cards that will keep him out of tourpor can they be played and if so can he strike back? -- STD Technology Inc. st...@ug.cs.dal.ca

That's a good question. However, damage prevention cards are played during the "Resolve Strike" sub-phase, so the "Choose Strike" phase must already be completed. If the VH strikes hard enough for the vampire to go into torpor, then the vamp goes without striking. Since the damage prevention at this point is only to keep the vampire out of torpor, no, he wouldn't get a strike this round. -- Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas snoot of a | a-Henh! fully charged icing annointment utensil, he poots forth | a tiny green rosette near the summit of a dense but | Brian radiant muffin of his own design. | Wilson | We miss you, Frank! |

Ummm damage prevention means that it prevents damage, ie the damage never actually hits. So the vamp would _not_ goto torpor and would still be able to strike. This also fits into the first strike scheme, b/c first strikes are _resolved_ before normal strikes, and thus you can prevent damage for them and never even think about hitting torpor.

Choose Strike and Resolve Strike are *separate* phases. First strike affects the Resolve Strike phase, not the Choose Strike phase. Are you saying the acting player gets to choose AND resolve his strike before the other player chooses a strike? The rules certainly don't say that. -- Eric Amick eam...@clark.net Columbia, MD Public key available via finger

First strike means that there are separate strike resolutions for each vamp. The vamp with First Strike deals its damage first and then has the resolution for this strike. So, damage prevention cards may be played during this strike resolution. Choose Strike and Strike Resolsution are two separate phases. Hope this helps. -Tyler - FRC...@prodigy.com (Tyler Ginn)
