every time i try to go there, it gives me a blank window, and freezes my machine. i'd really like to be able to check there for myself, rather than bother you here. any ideas why this is happening? recent rule ???'s: 1. as i try to leave torpor with iliana (and she has 6 blood still on her,) the miscreant dimple blocks me. can i play kiss of ra? does dimp go to torp? i guess yes... does he also get the chance to diablerize iliana? again, i guess yes... 2. iliana wants to do rutor's hand action. the 1 point can't be prevented. can it be changed via skin of night to non-aggravated? i guess no, because skin of night specifically says in a "combat round," but i wondered, since i thought there were weird errata about when damage prevention/alteration cards can be played. thanks in advance -spintoy ======= ===== ===== == Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

No idea about the problem with your system, but the complete errata, rulings, and clarifications file is backed up here: http://lasombra.tripod.com/cerc121500.htm For use when you are having trouble accessing White Wolf's site. > recent rule ???'s: > 1. as i try to leave torpor with iliana (and she has 6 blood still on > her,) the miscreant dimple blocks me. can i play kiss of ra? Yes. Kiss of Ra can be played by an acting vampire in torpor. [LSJ 19970325] Dimple does not block you, he attempts to block you. You then play the Kiss of Ra, and the Kiss of Ra blocks the action. > does dimp go to torp? Yes. If he hasn't gained a fortitude skill card somewhere along the way. > does he also get the chance to diablerize iliana? This would say no, Only ready vampires can commit diablerie. Vampires in Torpor cannot. [RTR 19980623] Also, the Kiss of Ra blocks the action, Dimple does not, so Dimple has no opportunity to commit diablerie. See LSJ's discussion of blocking & Kiss of Ra, here: http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=694133547 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=660751578 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=622531166 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=704688016 http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=694136839 > 2. iliana wants to do rutor's hand action. the 1 point can't be > prevented. can it be changed via skin of night to non-aggravated? No. Skin of Night is a combat card, and as such can only be played in combat. If Iliana had a Heart of Darkness card, she could treat the damage as normal damage rather than aggravated, but she still couldn't prevent the damage. > i guess no, because skin of night specifically says in a "combat > round," but i wondered, since i thought there were weird errata > about when damage prevention/alteration cards can be played. Combat cards can only be played in combat. Or as about to leave combat (ie Psyche, Telepathic Tracking). The only card that lets you prevent damage outside of combat is Blood Tears of Kephran, but even it will not let you prevent the damage from Rutor's Hand. Carpe Noctem. (obviously, this contradicts the rule about combat cards being used only in combat, but as i say, i thought that was in the rulings at some point.) > Or as about to leave combat (ie Psyche, Telepathic Tracking). > > The only card that lets you prevent damage outside of combat > is Blood Tears of Kephran, but even it will not let you prevent > the damage from Rutor's Hand. > > Carpe Noctem. > > Lasombra thanks again, spin ---=-=----- [ quoted text not captured ]

(obviously, this > contradicts the rule about combat cards being used only in combat, > but as i say, i thought that was in the rulings at some point.) This was never the case. The ruling you're thinking of is from RTR 28-JUN-1998: Damage Prevention cards: are not restricted to strike resolution. # # Combat cards can be played whenever appropriate during combat - and # any time preventable damage is inflicted is an appropriate time for # damage prevention. > > Or as about to leave combat (ie Psyche, Telepathic Tracking). Superior Psyche! is played after combat. Superior Telepathic Tracking is played when combat is about to end. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. At risk of sounding like a nit-picker, if Illiana had somehow gotten a Heart of Darkness (say, using an Infernal Familiar), the damage *would* be changed to normal, which was really the intent of the plan, yes? -- Pat Ricochet Soul Jar'rn Fool of Atlanta

In article <92sjgc$pfq$1...@nnrp1.deja.com>, [ quoted text not captured ] yes, this is how we always read this: damage prevention cards: are not restricted to strike resolution. combat cards CAN (as in MAY, It is Allowable but not Necessary) be played whenever (obviously) appropriate during combat - AND (as in Additionally!?! since this is an errata/clarification) any time preventable damage is inflicted is an appropriate time for damage prevention (as in Whether it's during combat or not... our bad, but you can see how it could be read that way...) thanks for the edification. spinneytingling (was there anything else, where flak jacket had its powers specifically increased for a time...? there was errata on it at one time, and there no longer seems to be any... i can't quite remember. thanks again.) PS oh, yeah, by the way, i easily downloaded the errata/clar/rulings (from lasombra's site) when using netscape but IE froze me at least 10 times. it's just weird. > > > Or as about to leave combat (ie Psyche, Telepathic Tracking). > > Superior Psyche! is played after combat. > Superior Telepathic Tracking is played when combat is about to end. /////// [ quoted text not captured ]

At the risk of nit-picking your nit-picking, your question is what I answered above. If a vampire has a Heart of Darkness, they can change the damage from Rutor's Hand from aggravated to normal. This does not allow them to prevent the damage. Carpe noctem. [ quoted text not captured ]

If a vampire has a Heart of Darkness, > they can change the damage from Rutor's Hand from aggravated to > normal. This does not allow them to prevent the damage. At the risk of the newsgroup sending me to a tortured death by being picked to death by nits, "the intent of the plan" I refer to was the original statement: >> 2. iliana wants to do rutor's hand action. the 1 point can't be >> prevented. can it be changed via skin of night to non-aggravated? To which the reply was: > No. > Skin of Night is a combat card, and as such can only be played > in combat. If Iliana had a Heart of Darkness card, she could > treat the damage as normal damage rather than aggravated, > but she still couldn't prevent the damage. The Question-er already stated "the 1 points can't be prevented" and was only interested in changing the damage from agg to normal. The "...she still couldn't prevent the damage." answer seemed to answer the question that wasn't asked, that's all. I mean, Spin-ster knew that already, and wasn't trying to find a way to prevent the damage, just change it, right? I think I mistook the "completeness" of your answer for having missed the intent of Spinney's question. My bad. [ quoted text not captured ]

spin...@my-deja.com wrote: > (was there anything else, where flak jacket had its powers > specifically increased for a time...? there was errata on it at one > time, and there no longer seems to be any... i can't quite remember. > thanks again.) There was errata saying that it was optional back when the RT dropped the ruling that all equipment was inherently optional. The errata didn't increase the power of Flak Jacket - it just kept it at the same level. > PS oh, yeah, by the way, i easily downloaded the errata/clar/rulings > (from lasombra's site) when using netscape but IE froze me at least 10 > times. it's just weird.
