V:tES will clear up M-OoT, but the answer will be *NOT* on your own turn. Sorry. Dodge has been cleared for quite some time. Even the rulebook states that it flatly negates the effects of the opponent's strike. But, since it's a persistent question: From: aa...@cats.ucsc.edu (Thomas R Wylie) Subject: Revised Jyhad FAQ: 4/18/95 version Date: 18 Apr 1995 23:01:44 GMT Message-ID: <3n1gco$7...@darkstar.UCSC.EDU> Dodge: This will cancel a first strike. >Another thing, I think voting in general is broken because you >automatically get one vote when you call it. No the rulebook will never address a four-card (or any other) limit. The tournament guide might, but judging by the "For the heck of it" mentality of the WotC-sanctioned Gen*Con tourney, I hope they simply ignore it. -- ----- L. I have a bunch of questions I haven't found answers to in the rules or FAQs. Oh, if you do have the answer, could you please explain how you came by it? I have a hell of a time convincing my friends the net faqs are official. 1. Can you prevent the 1 damage from pulled fangs? The rules are very nonspecific about preventing damage. The card merely states that it does 1A, so I assume it can be prevented with some simple fortitude. If you can prevent it (and this is the part that sucks), are your fangs still pulled? Because the card does not address this issue, it would appear so. 2. How do you play concealed weapon? It is my understanding that it is an admitted misprint, but does not have official errata so officially it's useless. 3. Trap: when I first read this, I took it to mean 3 consecutive rounds. Ie, we go 4 rounds (trap played in first), and in 4th round I play another card. Do we go another 3, or only 1 more with no cards played? As in the 3 rounds with no cards played do *not* have to be consecutive? 4. Can you use multiple Fists of Death? Or multiple Wolf Claws just for the hell of it? 5. Is my impression correct that *nothing* can beat strike: combat ends? It is well know that there are broken cards, and others that are borderline. I am wondering if any of these will be fixed (ie modified) in V:TES. And will any of the common mystifiers be cleared up? This includes (but not limited to): SPOILERS Fame Kine Resources Contested Majesty Freak Drive Conservative Agitation MYSTIFIERS Mask of 1000 Faces Rotschreck Trap? Also, in V:TES I hope that certain issues will be cleared up once and for all; out-of-turn masters on your own turn (YES!), dodge vs. first strike (dodge!), etc... Another thing, I think voting in general is broken because you automatically get one vote when you call it. It works too easily. And the card limit issue. Every intelligent player seems to realize that Jyhad has perfect balance with no limits. But there are others who insist more than 4 of a card is cheesy. Will this be addressed at all in the new rulebook? A few paragraphs explaining the importance of maintaining game balance by having no card limits would surely fix any remaining doubters. -- ++ "He's our commander still........Space Dog" ++ ++ ....Johnny Tullner - <j...@inri.com> and <jb...@watt.seas.virginia.edu> ++

Having hosted dozens of games of Jyhad, I attest that card limits are preferred by the majority of players. The purpose of holding an event is to serve the players attending the event, and I have seen far more complaints against NO card limits than I have about card limits. Further, it serves only to alienate people by declaring that "every intelligent player" agrees with that position. That is dehumanizing, and absurd. I personally put a cap on my deck. 4 conditionings in my deck is enough since i've got all the other bleeding cards. The cards are all different and are better in different situations. Bonding is good if you don't have any stealth cards, threats is good if your vampires low on blood and conditioning is good for high bleeds. I wouldn't want too much of a card becuase if i have no stealth cards in my hand and i've got 50 billions conditionings I won't be able to bleed. C-ya, Michael Jeung

: >5. Is my impression correct that *nothing* can beat strike: combat ends? : Yes. See the following excerpt. : From: aa...@cats.ucsc.edu (Thomas R Wylie) : Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad : Subject: *NEW* Official FAQ for Jyhad, April 95 version : Date: 13 Apr 1995 01:16:26 GMT : Message-Id: <3mhu1a$h...@darkstar.UCSC.EDU> : A: (Sec. 15.3, "Special Combat Effects") Well, "Combat Ends" takes : place before any other strike can take effect: Combat Ends beats : any other card out there. (Note that the acting minion must : declare its strike first.) Combat Ends may beat any other strike out there, but it sure doesn't beat Immortal Grapple. If I get that off as well as say Torn Signpost, Fists of Death and Wolf Claws, I'm going to have a party. Nothing like a Gangrel with some Potence.
