i just lost a tense duel using my !Malky happy families deck against Marianne's !Bru Happy Families deck, in which a key play was a Blood Brother Ambush followed by Burning Wrath, quite a nice combo since it saves at least two blood [one for the cost, and one or more for any damage you would otherwise have taken]. This got me wondering whether you could play a superior Compel the Spirit to put the Blood Brothers back in play. Of course i understand that they would burn again at the end of any combat they got into, but in the meantime you have quite a nice fighty ally which could be an aspect of a bash 'n' bleed !Bru/Giovanni or [marginally] Setite [with ol' wotsername, Dedefra, the Setite that has nec, plus maybe the Bane Mummy] deck. i think it OUGHT to work, based on the Magic mantra that any card that is two things [in this case an action modifier AND an ally] is both at once unless it says otherwise [this idea wouldn't work on Death Pact, for example, because the text says it's an Action Card that BECOMES a retainer, so when it goes into the ash heap it's just an action card]. Does it work? i really hope so. i think this would be a dam' funny new combat idea. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

No. Blood Brother Ambush [SAB] - Action Modifier/Ally (BruA) (2) * Blood Brother Ambush is only an action modifier when it is not in play, and is only an Ally when it is in play.
