Some things that came up when we played recently. 1) Several SW cards say requires a ready Cardinal, Archbishop or Priscus. You would think that the acting vampire would have to have the title but that's not what the text says. Compare that to Camarilla cards that simply say Prince/Justicar. So the question is, does the acting vampire have to be a Cardinal, Archbishop or Priscus or do I simply have to have one in my ready region? 2) Can I play a card that has two effects even when one of them is not appropraite for the action/situation. e.g. Playing SUP Bonding to gain +1 stealth during a political action. I remember that a recent ruling stated that I can play SUP Form of Mist with a blocking minion to end combat, the continue action effect is ignored since I'm not taking an action. 3) When card text says "untaps and attempts to block" do I HAVE to block or can I simply untap and play a reaction card. The acting minion must meet the requirements (clan, discipline, capacity, kindredness, title, etc.) of the card, as stated in the rules [1.6.1.3]. > 2) Can I play a card that has two effects even when one of them is not > appropraite for the action/situation. > e.g. Playing SUP Bonding to gain +1 stealth during a political action. No. You cannot ignore part of the effect of the card. Bonding can only be played on a bleed action, since both the normal and superior versions are bleed modifiers. > I remember that a recent ruling stated that I can play SUP Form of > Mist with a blocking minion to end combat, the continue action effect > is ignored since I'm not taking an action. "... continue action effect is ignored because of errata." Form of Mist only provides a "continue action" effect when the card is played at superior by an acting minion. See the official errata list or the official card text. > 3) When card text says "untaps and attempts to block" do I HAVE to > block or can I simply untap and play a reaction card. If the effect says you do something, then you do something. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. As for Camarilla cards (parity shift ..), the acting vampire needs to fullfil the requirement, that is be a Cardinal, archibishop or priscus. > 2) Can I play a card that has two effects even when one of them is not > appropraite for the action/situation. > e.g. Playing SUP Bonding to gain +1 stealth during a political action. > I remember that a recent ruling stated that I can play SUP Form of Mist > with a blocking minion to end combat, the continue action effect is > ignored since I'm not taking an action. No, the stealth from bonding is only usable during a bleed action. > 3) When card text says "untaps and attempts to block" do I HAVE to > block or can I simply untap and play a reaction card. yes you have to, and if the block fails, you stay untapped and so you can play a reaction card.

Ok, that makes more sense, otherwise you end up in a "but you can do it with that card, so why not this card" situation. > > 3) When card text says "untaps and attempts to block" do I HAVE to > > block or can I simply untap and play a reaction card. > > If the effect says you do something, then you do something. I gathered as much, I should have added something to that. What if the vampire that wishes to untap and attempt to block has been seduced? Does the vampire untap and fail to block because it is not allowed to block or is in not allowed to untap at all? I'm inclined to think the latter. [ quoted text not captured ]

A tapped prince cannot, for example, play the second tradition and eagle's sight combo to block cross-table, since he cannot play either of those cards until the other has been played.
