Here is a old one that I don't know if we have ever had a official ruling on. Do Raven and Camille Devereux contest? We had this come up again last week, and we could not come to a conclusion. Also, why are there two conflicting rulings on Rotschreck in your weekly rulings? -- Steve Bucy I'd be better off undead... "Hmmm. I notice the number of conditional phrases in there... _seems_ to indicate a weakness, _may_ be vulnerable in theory." - G'Kar

Do they have the same name? Well, I guess they don't contest! :) I have both in my deck (all-female Ride of the Valkyries theme deck). > Also, why are there two conflicting rulings on Rotschreck in your weekly > rulings? It was noted for the next Rules Team Meeting. ------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Wilkie Wot...@aol.com a.k.a."Scalpel" Customer Service, Wizards of the Coast "This isn't going to have a happy ending" -Detective Somerset, Se7en -------------------------------------------------------------

The problem here is that by this ruling, the Gangrel get a boost by having two vampires with exactly the same statistics. The Giovanni have this in Mario and Cristophero Giovanni, but the effect on the game is less as a) there are less Giovanni total in all card sets, and b) Camille/Raven is a _very_ good vampire for gangrel decks. Being able to have two copies of her/them in play not only makes Gangrel decks more powerful in play(not too obviously, but it does), it also gives Gangrel decks more options in terms of vampires in-clan than any other clan than the Toreador(who have Marianna Gilbert, who I have not seen yet due to my laziness in not mailing off for her....sigh...). Not only that, but Raven is, as I mentioned earlier, very good for the gangrel if not _the_ best vampire that they have, for economy of cost, speed, and discipline combinations. I'm not saying that having them contest is necessary for game balance, but giving the Gangrel an advantage for a random reason(ie, Camille Devereax was copied off of a victoria's secret catalog picture, and had to be withdrawn and replaced by Raven- dang it's nice to have obsessive artist friends sometimes....) instead of for a concious game balance reason seems to be, well, a bit too lax. Just because a card or minor effect doesn't have a visibly unbalancing effect on the game, that doesn't mean that it isn't unbalancing it, and from a theoretical standpoint, that's what this ruling does. Quite a while ago this came up and I'm not sure if the ruling was official or just a concensus on this group but they certainly DO contest. This was to stop the Gangrel having an extra vapire. Peter

I mean, even if Camille/Raven is good vampires, they ain't THAT good, and the gangrel decks don't get THAT much better when using them both. >Not only that, but Raven is, as I mentioned earlier, very good for the >gangrel if not _the_ best vampire that they have, for economy of cost, >speed, and discipline combinations.
