Hi. A while ago i tried to star a discussion on the FInal Nights expansion, mainly what people expect from it and such, but I has not been replied to once. :( Did I do something wrong here or was it just uninteresting or confusing? I sure hope I did nothing wrong. Well, sorry about this post, just my pride trying to get me to feel bad. :) ------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE web-based e-mail and newsgroup access at: http://MailAndNews.com Create a new mailbox, or access your existing IMAP4 or POP3 mailbox from anywhere with just a web browser. ------------------------------------------------------------

>Hi. A while ago i tried to star a discussion on the FInal Nights expansion, >mainly what people expect from it and such, but I has not been replied to >once I think you just came in a bit late. The whole "what do you think is going to be in it" had been done to death months ago. In general terms, I think the concesus is the following: 1) A "Path of Paradox" or similar for the Ravnos since all the good Chimestry cards cost (usually a couple of blood too!). 2) Something to hose S:CE for the Assamites. 3) Something useful and FAST for serpentis, since nearly all Serpentis actions take too much time to get going. 4) Some decent Giovanni vampires, since few have more than one of their clan disiplines at superior. I think current speculation states that the Precons will be looked at with great interest, since there will probably be an Ancient Hearts rare in each, and the feeling is that Dreams of the Sphinx will be in one of them. Since it is a mega rare card, expect the lucky clan to sell like hot cakes! It has also been intimated that the edge will be more integral to the game as a result of this expansion (or was it the next one? I can't remember!) with there being more cards that you can only use if you have the edge. Personally, since Final Nights is based on the current clan novel series, I would like to see a few flavoured cards - e.g Eye of Hazimel: Unique Weapon, cost 2 pool. Does 2R agg as a strike, with an optional press. Bearer can enter combat with any minion as a D action. The bearer cannot do any actions except attack (or hunt if on 0 blood) whilst he has the eye. Any vampire can steal the eye as a D action, Setites get +1 Stealth on this action. Gangrel Exodus Vote, called at +1 Stealth. If this vote is successful, all Gangrel are now considered independant for the rest of the game. Each Gangrel gets an addtional vote in this action. Etchings of Anatole, Prophet of Gehenna Master Burn any Malkavian with a capacity less than 6. Only one Etchings of Anatole, Prophet of Gehenna can be played in a game. And of course, the themed vampires! Romana would be great, Leopold and Nickoli interesting, and Calebos niiiice. Just do a search on the term Final Nights on the Google Newsgroups interface under rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad. You should find it all there. DH

Both Assamite and Setite are, currently, more playable, IMO, than either of the DS clans, and hence the "power" of DotS will probably benefit either of them most. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D EBD690ECD7A1F What's the meaning when you speak with so much feeling? "Jozxyqk" <jfeu...@eecs.tufts.edu> a écrit dans le message news: PkuL6.22998$9j1.5...@typhoon.ne.mediaone.net... [ quoted text not captured ] not the same Calebos, ya know. Its name is CALEBROS from the WW site : Clan Novel:Nosferatu Calebros, Keeper of Secrets Background: The most influential Nosferatu in New York for the past fifty years since his sire disappeared, Calebros is remarkably anonymous beyond his clan, and that's they way he prefers it. He maintains order in his warren beneath Manhattan, while also coordinating plans and information for his brethren across the Americas and parts of Europe. As the reluctant and temporary Prince of New York, Calebros looks forward to the night when he may put those duties behind him. Generation: 9th Disciplines: Animalism 3, Auspex 1, Celerity 1, Fortitude 2, Obfuscate 5, Potence 3, Protean 2 Roleplaying Hints: Some of your clanmates call you a packrat, but you know that each of the countless reports, photographs, and newspaper clippings crammed into your grotto office is a piece of the large puzzle - and solving that puzzle may mean the survival of your clan. Other Kindred take you for granted, and that's just as well, because ever more terrible things are taking place in the world, and safeguarding your brethren against them is your eternal work. => in the V:tes world we may expect this (nice version) : cap 6, OBF, Pot, Ani, For, Pro (to fit in a lot of decks =] ); and a special : Calebros gets +1 intercept to block Action directed against him. (bad version) : cap 5 OBF, Pot, Ani. and that's all folks. any comments ? reyda =)

That should raise his capacity by 1 or 2 blood using the V:tes point system. voila !

Since >it >>is a mega rare card, expect the lucky clan to sell like hot cakes! > >I'd *guess* in either Ravnos or Giovanni. Well, FoS play better as weenies, and DotS helps weenies more than bigger vampires, so I always assumed it would be them (plus it's more thematic, them coming from Egypt n'all). The Parthenon I thought would go to the Assamites so they can play Contracts. I always thought the Giovanni would get a Legenday Vampire, since they have some voting ability. As for the Ravnos..., well, tricky. I assume Ravnos Cache / Carnival might show up. But I can't think off the top of my head if there is anything they HAVE to have. Maybe Inbase Diskoteque since they need blood the most. Maybe Vast Wealth too, since they can use more weapons (a couple have good specials for weapons) and maybe Freak Drive and Kiss of Ra (for ovbvious reasons). I'm fairly sure we won't see ToRIII again, since it was in SW, and also Antideluvian Awakening. O/T - James, can you mail me at dave...@hotmail.com. I woul dlike to talk with you. Cheers! DH

[ quoted text not captured ] I would like to see him with a good built in special (like "If Calebros is ready, he can pay a blood to give any other minion +1 Intercept" - fits with his informationeering) and a bad one ("Calebros cannot use any equiptment except the Ivory Bow" (i.e. Anacronism) - fits with his anacronistic nature ). Probably too much text for the card, though. Either / Or would be good. Best solution would be a 6 cap prince (as above), but with the built in Anacronism. A cheap Nossie prince would be the bomb! DH

>Calebos [Sabbat, SW] >Cardtype: Vampire >Clan: Nosferatu antitribu >Capacity: 8 >Discipline: ANI OBF POT cel >Sabbat Bishop: +1 strength Oops! Typo - meant Calebros. Daft the amount of similar sounding guys there are - Calebos (8 Cap !Nossie), Caliban (I think it's spelled like that, 6 point Tzimisce), Calebros (Prince of New York). Poor typists like me beware! I sure hope I did nothing wrong. Well, sorry about this post, >just >my pride trying to get me to feel bad. :) Hey, don't worry. To be honest, I post things all the time, many of which never really get any replies either... =) I've considered that it's partially because I post boring, long-winded messages but then again, IMHO, this newsgroup seems to be a bit less active than it used to be (the Usenet debacle a while back may explain some of it). In fact, there are quite a few people I haven't seen post in several months... Halcyan 2

>2) Something to hose S:CE for the Assamites. I'm probably being picky and I really don't want to bring up the entire argument (again), but I think "hose" is too strong of a word. The Assamites need something to "help counter" S:CE, but they should never be able to simply "hose" it. With Celerity to counter manuevers and dodges and Quietus to hose damage prevention, there needs to be something that will keep Assamite combat in check. Once again, I'm really not trying to drudge up the entire subject again and I do agree the Assamites need something... =) Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] Although Calebros was Prince of New York for a while, he has since abdicated the position. I think New York By Night is supposed to cover it more thoroughly and the Princedom is pretty much up for grabs (for the player character too). I'm also guessing a six cap. OBF definitely. In addition, either ANI pot or ani POT. And then either for or pro. And follow that up with a special so: Calebros Capacity: 6 Clan: Nosferatu OBF ([ANI pot] or [ani POT]) (for or pro) Some special He'll probably be a bit undercosted (since the other characters seem to be as well). About 7 points using the Jyhad system (maybe his "special" will be Primogen instead, bringing it to 6.5). And 6.5 points using the Sabbat system, which will probably become more prevalent as more expansions come out... Also, besides Hesha and Fatima, any guesses as to which other signature characters will come out? Isabel Giovanni seems to be a good bet and while Khalil might (since he IS a sig. character), I personally think he's too much of a wuss and there's already a Khalil (Anvari). As if we didn't already have problems getting Violet and Violette, the two Ians, Andreas and Andrei, and Sascha and Sasha confused. Not to mention the previously mentioned Calebos vs. Calebros affair. Also, is it just me but I could almost swear that when Steve Wieck was first mentioning the thing, he specifically said something about Victoria Ash being in Final Nights. Any confirmations? As for me, I'd really like to see Leopold and Nickolai (more !Tremere!) and also Jan and Aisling, the two coolest signature characters!!! Halcyan 2

In fact, there > are quite a few people I haven't seen post in several months... It has been somewhat quiet around here lately... We had a marked drop of traffic when Deja stopped doing news but I can't account for the recent disappearances. The Yahoo Group has grown considerably in the past few months so I don't think this is due to a lack of interest in the game itself. I've even posted instructions there on how to set up Usenet in Outlook Express in the hopes of drawing some of them here. A few showed up but not many. It seems that a lot of ISPs are not providing access to Usenet right now for some reason. As someone who works at an ISP, I find this rather strange. Granted, it's not a function that many internet users gravitate to but still... Another possibility is simply a lack of controversy. Many of the cards from Sabbat War have been deconstructed and analyzed to death. We're all waiting patiently for Final Nights to come out so we can discuss new cards. There's only so much one can say about Waste Management Operation after all. Also, controversial/annoying posters seem to have been scared away, more's the better so there's less reason to post flames hehe. Maybe I'll end this post by saying something controversial... hmm... no, can't think of anything. Cheers, WES

Yeah. =/ The web-interface is just agonizing - it helps to RECEIVE messages by email, but the inability to respond is just painful. The V:TES mailing list (a good option) is totally deceased, which is somewhat odd as well. >It seems that a lot of ISPs are not providing access to Usenet right now for >some reason. [snip] One other thing which could account for the lower posting activities is the fact the Google and Mailgate are updated like once or twice a day. Whenever I post I have to wait for a day to read my own message, and sometimes 2 days to read any response. Whereas at Deja, *realtime* discussions were possible with a lot of people taking part in that discussion. The fact that this is possible at Yahoo does make that forum way more interesting to read. Right now r.g.t.c.j. isn't interactive anymore because of the waiting periods. I think this really is one of the main reasons for this lower posting activity and the increase at yahoo. I really hope Google will provide us with continious updating soon. Tim Eijpe
