Carpe Noctem! A couple of questions came up over the weekend during a couple of games in Dallas. Can you use the same strike for multiple strikes? ie. maneuver, Thrown Sewer Lid, Blur, Thrown Sewer Lid, and then Thrown Sewer Lid When ousting your prey, at what point do you gain the 6 pool? Immediately, or at the end of your turn? When ousting your prey, at what point does your grand-prey become your prey? Immediately, or during your next turn? ie. can you bleed your grand-prey with your next action without a directed bleed card or do you have to wait until the next turn? If a vampire is rescued from torpor that has no blood and is untapped, must it hunt immediately or can it wait until the next turn? Has anybody made a necromancy-based Giovanni deck that worked? Thanks in advance for the feedback. Completely legal. however, you cannot stack maneuvers from strikes, saying "I'll blur and use them" (eg you couldn't play three thrown gates for maneuvers and then blur - only one would be playable). >When ousting your prey, at what point do you gain >the 6 pool? His prey (my ex-grand prey) is now my prey. I bleed just as normal. >If a vampire is rescued from torpor that has no blood >and is untapped, must it hunt immediately or can it >wait until the next turn? > It must hunt immediately. >Has anybody made a necromancy-based Giovanni deck >that worked? > Necromancy is difficult. Often used as a back up discipline rather than a primary one. -- James Coupe (Prince of Mercia) Change nospam to obeah to reply Vampire: Elder Kindred Network madnessnetwork.hexagon.net

Just to be completely clear: you can't use the same _card_ for multiple strikes. If you want to Blur and play three Thrown Sewer Lids, you have to have three seperate Lid cards. Also, regarding James' Thrown Gate comment. The reason you can't use two Thrown Gates for two maneuvers is because the first Thrown Gate maneuver locks you into your first strike being "Thrown Gate". You can't play another Thrown Gate, because you've already chosen your strike; and you can't say that you'll use it later in an additional strike because additional strikes come after the first strike resolution in the round. > >If a vampire is rescued from torpor that has no blood > >and is untapped, must it hunt immediately or can it > >wait until the next turn? > > It must hunt immediately. Unless the ruling changed in my 9-month absence from the newsgroup, this is incorrect. The ex-torporous vampire can _only_ hunt, but it is not forced to hunt. Only vampires which start the turn with no blood are forced to hunt, and this is the first minion action you can take on your turn. James -- James Hamblin ham...@math.wisc.edu

Correct. If you use a maneuver from a strike (strike card or weapon), you cannot use another strike to maneuver in the same round. > >When ousting your prey, at what point do you gain > >the 6 pool? It is correct - any time during your minion phase that one or more of your ready untapped vampires is/are empty and not prevented from hunting, your next action must be to hunt with one of those vampires (and repeat until all such vampires are dealt with). Sorry, LSJ, if I'm beating a dead horse (whack! whack! whack!), but does this mean that a newly-rescued-from-torpor untapped empty vampire must hunt immediately? I.e., am I wrong in the above? To the best of my knowledge, an untapped vampire with no blood must hunt as the next action you declare during your turn unless it is specifically barred from hunting (say, due to NRA - I got my vampire to hunt (1 blood on it already) and then was blocked and played superior Majesty, say).
