On the namesday of Set, the 30th of December, 20 Methuselahs gathered to determine who would be given the right to bear the glory of the Dark God into the year 2002. Here's the players and their decks and VPs on the 3 preliminary rounds: Henrik 'Oskis' Oscarsson - Setite corruption deck - 1,5VP Fredrik Axelzon - Lasombra Embrace deck with Power Structure and lots of Consangenous Boons. This deck won a special prize (Dismemberment of Osiris) for the coolest deck. - 1VP Daniel Bakken - Omaya intercept-it-all-deck with Smiling Jacks. - 3,5 VP Johan 'Bern' Carlsson - !Malkavian Derange and Lunatic Eruption deck. - 0VP Sten Düring - Ventrue deck with some Kiss of Ra - 2VP Haviet Kok - Ravnos deck with mostly weenies, embraces and Week of Nightmares. - 4VP Sven-Inge Möller - Weenie dominate (I think) - 1VP Patrik 'Pata' Lesnik - Anneke-intercept and equipment with Black Cat and Pier 13. - 1,5VP Archibald 'Archie' Zimonyi - Some strange mix of Anton, Rebekka, Muaziz and stuff. Based on perma-intercept and stealth on the minions. - 0,5VP Elias 'Ille' Rolén - !Toreador vote deck with obfuscate and Protected Resources. - 4VP Roger Carhult (me) - Ulugh Beg with malks. Lots of 2nd Traditions and Obedience with Ulugh and some S&B with malks. - 0VP Henrik 'Henke' Isaksson - Malkavians with equipment and Hidden Lurkers. Beatrice Düring - Ani (and auspex too I think) intercept deck with Gangrels and Raven Spies. - 5,5 VP Daniel Ahlberg - Traditional mono-S&B - 8,5VP Hans Nemeczek - Same as above... - 10VP Keiko Düring - Brujah fight deck - 0,5 VP Magnus Andersson - Gangrel fight deck - 0VP Simon Carlsson - Dragos protean deck with Mythic Forms - 1VP Andreas Gustavsson - Tzimisce deck (never saw it play) - 1,5VP Johan Hansson - !Toreador vote deck with tons of KRC and no intercept at all. - 11VP Some highlights: Oskis put Temptations on all of my 4 minion in the same turn. Bern played Lunatic Eruption on Omaya (and all of Bakken's other minions), who then got an Obf skill card and Disguised out a Flamethrower and sent poor Sten's minion to torpor who had Fame. Bern put Lunatic Eruptions on all of my minions crippling my no-combat deck totally :/ Bern hunted Archie and Deranged all his vamps (Muaziz, Anton and Rebekka) into !Malks. Then Archie has an Institution HG in his hand!! Henke managed did a couple of Amaranths throughout the tourney. Henke tried to block my Gilbert from rescueing Ulugh in torpor. He throws up +5 intercept and Gilbert managed to stealth through with +6 stealth (without Forgotten Labyrinth). Fredrik won the C-final and finished it with 8 minion and 65 pool (without stalling the game to get it)! The final: Johan Hansson (!Tor) ---> Hans Nemeczek (Malk) ---> Ille (!Tor) ---> Beatrice (gangrel intercept) ---> Daniel (Malk) An early deal was made where table was split and Johan Hansson who had lots of votes feared that Daniel would oust him quickly and made a deal with Hans. He'd help him to win and then Hans would be ousted by Johan. Ille was soon bled out. Beatrice managed to resist the Malks for a while, but was eventually bled out by Hans. Daniel put pressure on Johan with his bleeds and Johan was nearly ousted when Hans managed to oust Daniel too. Then Johan bled out Hans who kept his deal. The final was pretty boring in that a quite early deal was made and with boring Malk S&B decks it was over quite wuickly. Kudos to Beatrice who at least played an intercept deck that got quite many VPs into the final and there made things a bit more interesting for a while. And the winning deck was: Deck Name: Laurent the wannabe-malk n his crew Created By: Hans Nemeczek Description: bleed, oust, win or bleed, make immature deal, oust, win Crypt: (12 cards, Min: 11, Max: 21, Avg: 4,00) ---------------------------------------------- 1 Count Ormonde dom OBF pre ser 5, Followers of Set 1 Gloria Giovanni DOM nec 4, Giovanni 1 Didi Meyers aus cel DOM obf 5, Malkavian 1 Normal obf 2, Malkavian 1 Ozmo AUS dom obf 6, Malkavian 1 Roland Bishop aus dom obf 4, Malkavian 1 Zebulon aus dom OBF pro 5, Malkavian 1 Dimple obf 2, Nosferatu 1 Duck obf pot 3, Nosferatu 2 Laurent de Valois ani dom obf 4, Nosferatu 1 Ingrid Russo DOM for 4, Ventrue Antitribu Library: (80 cards) ------------------- Master (14 cards) 1 Asylum Hunting Ground 2 Barrens, The 2 Contingency Planning 3 Dominate 2 Obfuscate 1 Slum Hunting Ground 3 Sudden Reversal Action (17 cards) 1 Dominate Kine 1 Far Mastery 10 Govern the Unaligned 5 Scouting Mission Action Modifier (29 cards) 4 Cloak the Gathering 9 Conditioning 3 Faceless Night 5 Foreshadowing Destruction 4 Lost in Crowds 4 Spying Mission Reaction (9 cards) 7 Deflection 2 Wake with Evening's Freshness Combat (4 cards) 4 Behind You! Bakken alson played with open hand because of a revelation put into play by me, which couldn't be removed by his crazy minions. /Bern

I wanted it torporized because my bleedcards topped out at 12 points of bleed and my prey had 13. Worked too ;) That's the first game ever when I've had in excess of 50 points of vampires in my own torporregion *growl*. Sten During

If so, then how did it work for you? Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr. XZealot Archon of the Swamp

If so, then how did it work for you? I think you'll find that VEKN-sanctioned tournaments follow the VEKN rules. You know - 90 card library maximums, 4- and 5-player tables, final rounds, and all that. How did that 90-card limit rule work for you in your last tournament? -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. If so, then how did it work for you? Tournament was 30th of December, before the new game win rules became official. So we weren't allowed to you it. The rule isn't an option, but an obligation, so the question is a bit weird :)

> > How did that 90-card limit rule work for you in your last tournament? Worked great! Well sorta, I actually lost the round after I had run The Lasombra's Arihmane's deck out of cards, but his Mark V had done so much damage to my Blood Brother Circle that I just wasn't able to recover to take Jeff out and win the round. Such is life. :) [ quoted text not captured ]
