More questions I've accumulated.
1. Fear of Mekhet says to "Put this card on a ready Justicar or Inner
Circle member". After paying the 5 blood, "the card is placed on
another IC member of the Methuselah's choice". I just wanted to
confirm that although you may first play on an IC member *or* Justicar,
Fear of Mekhet can only be passed (like some awful venereal disease) to
an Inner Circle member, and not a Justicar.
2. I bleed my prey with Angus. My prey uses a Wake-wEF on Justine and
blocks. During combat, Angus uses Form of Mist and continues with the
bleed at a stealth of 1. Can Justine simply then use, say, Eagle's
Sight to add intercept and continue to block? It would seem to me that
Justine can still use the effect from the Wake: "attempt to block as
tho' untapped until the current action is concluded". Please enlighten
me.
Thanks,

Correct. [RTR 24-JAN-1996]

She can, correct. [TOM 05-MAY-1995]

Don't know if there's an errata on this. I always played that you can
pass the fear only on a IC member, though you can play it either on Ic
or justicars (text).

Yes, of course, with a Wake a vamp can continue to block the current
action until it is concluded. And with the FoM a vamp continues the
(current) action.

Just to double check, if there is one Justicar and two Inner Circle members and
the Fear of Mekhet is played on the Justicar, it would then have to be moved to
an IC member. From one IC member, it would move back and forth between the two
until one is burned since the card says nothing about an IC member being
affected more than once? Thus if more than one IC member is in play, Fear of
Mekhet ensures that at least one will be burned, right?

Yes, so long as they all stay in play for the relevant points of
movement. Banishing one of them briefly would scupper this, for
instance.

That's my understanding. Frankly, I'm surprised that I've never seen
anyone play with this card (in my admittedly limited experience). One
could often destroy an IC member, or at least severely damage him/her.
What is Mekhet anyway?? As I suggested before, a bad venereal disease
that only affects older vampires??

For 2 pool and a high opportunity cost (IC members tend to go through
phases of being in decks, or not at all), it's a fair gamble. IF it
pays off, though, a cool one.

An Antediluvian, last I checked. They tend to feed off the bigger,
older vampires, human blood being too thin for them - in the same way
that a number of vampires find animal blood too thin, and have to drink
human blood.

Yes. One of the interesting problems that older vampires face, is that, as
James said, human blood no longer becomes sufficient to sustain them. I think
the term is either Antediluvian or Methusaleh's Thirst (I think it's the
latter). All of the Ante's ('cept for Tremere/Saulot? and Augustus) suffer from
it, thus a lot of the older vampires are afraid of their elders because they
might get eaten. In the RPG, there are occasional plots involving vampire slave
auctions, where the elders get the opportunity to "buy" (and then "eat") other
vampires. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that prior to his death, the Ravnos
Ante ate quite a few of his descendants as well.
As to the meaning of the actual word "Mekhet," yes, it is the name of an
Antediluvian. Supposedly the Book of Nod (or something) lists the various names
of the Antediluvians, though it doesn't actually say which one is which. Thus,
although people commonly call the Antediluvians by their clan's name (Ventrue
and Toreador, for example), they actually have other names.
If I recall correctly, most people agree that:
Ennoia was the Gangrel Ante.
Arikel was the Toreador Ante.
Malkav was the Malkavian Ante.
Absimillard(sp) was the Nosferatu Ante
I believe the (now deceased) Ravnos Ante was called Dracos, Dracon, or
something like that.
The Ventrue Ante was Veddartha? Or was that just a Ventrue Methusaleh?.
Augustus Giovanni was the Giovanni Ante who diablerized the Cappodican Ante.
Tremere was the Tremere Ante who diablerized Saulot (Zao-lot, whatever), the
Salubri Ante. Though this got really messed up in the canon storyline.
There was an original Brujah Ante from Enoch, but he was diablerized by the
current Ante, Troile. BTW: was there a misprinting or mispelling for the card
"Triole's Revenge" (which affects Ventrue). Is it supposed to be "Troile's
Revenge" or something? Or are there alternative spellings...
Most importantly, Mekhet was either the Followers of Set or Tzimisce Ante. I
really don't know. If I had to guess, I'd go with the Followers of Set, but it
could also be Tzimisce. Though the Tzimisce Ante is supposedly loose in the
sewers of New York, becoming some weird amalgram of flesh.

Oh, here's a reply to my own reply:
>Malkav was the Malkavian Ante.
Actually, I think the name might be Micah?
>Augustus Giovanni was the Giovanni Ante who diablerized the Cappodican Ante.
And the Capp Ante is Ashur.

Folks:
More Q's, s'il vous plait.
1. "Reverend Blackwood inflicts +1 damage with any strike card that
requires Thaumaturgy."
Does this mean that if the good Reverend uses a Burst of Sunlight at
superior, it would do 3R aggravated (to all minions)??
Does this mean that if the good Reverend wanted to use Theft of Vitae
at close range, he would steal 2 blood and do 1 damage besides?
2. My revrulebook.txt dated 9/26/99 says that "If your library is
empty, then you do not draw to replenish your hand, but you continue to
play." and later says "If you have exhausted your library and begin
your turn with less than a full hand, you have the option of
withdrawing from the game."
The Sabbat rulebook (presumably dated earlier) says "If you've
exhausted your library and begin your turn with less than a full hand,
you must withdraw from the game".
Which applies??
Thanks again,
Madman

Yes.

He will only steal 2 blood. The strike does not do damage,
therefore his bonus will not apply.

The Sabbat rulebook contained an optional withdrawal rule, and it is
superceded by the 9/26/99 Rule Book. Once you run out of cards in your
library, you have the option of withdrawing, and the option of
continuing to play.
As no decent predator will allow you to withdraw, you will usually be
stuck playing it out. Remember, none of your minions can lose blood
(even if it is regained), none of your minions can enter combat, and
you cannot lose any pool from the beginning of the turn you announce
your intention to withdraw until the beginning of your next turn.
One Cryptic Mission, Night Moves or Bum's Rush and your withdrawal
attempt will fail.

3R aggravated to all vampires, yes.

No. Modification to damage only works if there is damage to
modify. Theft of Vitae has no damage as part of its effect.

The Sabbat Withdrawl Rules are optional and do not form part of the Rules
Canon. The optional if you want to ruling is correct.
(Also note-worthy - if you empty your library and have a non-full hand
with the Sabbat Rules, when your turn starts you withdraw
immediately. Withdrawl is the process of actually leaving the game. In
the rules proper, you have to announce your intent to withdraw previously,
and only withdraw (leave the game) if you succeed in meeting the
requirements.)

From what I understood was that the Tzimice Antidelluvian did not
possess Vicciccitude, but rather that one of the elder Tzimice went into
the deep unbra and found some amorphous creature that wouldn't leave him
alone so he bit it. Several weeks later he began to exhibit a new
dicipline, aka Viccicitude. The other elders then staked him and put
him out to get a suntan, but not before he passed the Viccicitude
discipline (disease?) to his childer through Vaulerie or a blood bond.
But I would like to know your source info on the sewers of New York, as
I understood it, it was a Niktuku (Nosferatu Killers).

Ah! The old Viccisstidue(sp) controversy. Okay, I'll try to explain this the
best I can. The problem began when White Wolf decided it would be "cool" to
have a bloodline, the Old Clan Tzimisce, who didn't have Viccisstidue (they had
Dominate instead). Sort of like the True Brujah concept. Anyone, this idea was
introduced by the writer of the Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand. In that book,
the Old Clan Tzimisce "claimed" that Viccissitude was a disease caused by an
Umbral parasite. All that you said. However, Justin Achilli (developer of
Vampire) didn't really like this "theory" so he more or less said in one of the
newer books (I *think* 3rd edition Player's Guide, Camarilla Guide, or Sabbat
Guide), that this indeed was JUST a theory. Thus overall, this Vicissitude
parasite turns out to be false. In other words, this was just another way to
"clean up" the debacle of Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand. (The rest of the
cleanup took place with the last Wraith book, when they completely destroyed
Enoch and the Black Hand).
>But I would like to know your source info on the sewers of New York, as

I haven't read it myself, but I heard the "Tzimisce Ante in the sewers of New
York" thing happened in Nights of Prophecy. In that, Lambach, the "good lad,"
goes down to the sewers and meets the Ante once again.
I don't know anything about Niktuku in the sewers though. I know that they've
recently "changed" part of the Nosferatu story (in Nights of Prophecy and the
new Clanbook). Apparently, Absillimard had THREE childes who escaped him before
he could blood bond them (all his other childes are Niktuku). One was Baba
Yaga, one was the founder of the Nosferatu clan, and the other is unnamed.
In any case, Nights of Prophecy, DOES have a Niktuku offing Baba Yaga. Sorry
for the spoiler!
