Some information on the next VtES expansion "Heirs to the Blood" can be
found in Game Trade Magazine #115:
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle CCG:
Heirs to the Blood Expansion
Power pulses in the vein! The descendants of Caine are many, and
their blood is diverse. It may infuse a vampire with spiritual
hunger, or stony endurance, or the maddening touch of the fae.
Bloodlines arise and struggle for power against the entrenched
clans. The blood will prevail.
A new expansion for V:TES, "Heirs to the Blood" features 170 new
cards in booster packs, with four new starter decks featuring over
24 starter-exclusive cards!
The 24 new starter exclusive cards imply that the 4 new starters will
contain 6 new vampires each.

I wonder how the 170 cards will split up, as that deviates from the
previous examples of 150 (50 of each rarity - presumably two of each on
a 100 card sheet).

The language seems to suggest focus on the Ahrimanes, the Gargoyles,
and the Kiasyd. Do we now know the nature of 3 of the 4 starters?

I cannot see that, unless they plan to add very heavily to group 3.

170-cards-set ?
or
there are 170 new cards, in addition to reprints?

I think (or maybe "hope" is more accurate) each starter gets 6 new
Vampires (2 copies each).
Ahrimanes: 3 Ahrimanes, 3 Gangrel antitribu.
Gargoyles: 3 Gargoyles, 3 Tremere.
Kiasyd: 3 Kiasyd, 3 Lasombra.

A new expansion for Vampire: The Eternal Struggle®:
• 1x Lasombra/Kiasyd Starter
• 1x Nosferatu/Samedi Starter
• 1x Tremere/Gargoyles Starter
• 1x Ventrue Antitribu/Salubri Antitribu Starter
• contains cver 24 starter-exclusive cards

So there is the missing 3rd and KoT starters. Guess WW has a plan when
not releasing certain cards. Maybe they have a plan with cards like
"Katana", "Powerbase: Beijing" and Robbert Pedder Ventrue Prince of
Hong Kong ;)

That number 24 sure does suggest that they'll follow the 2x 6 starter-
only vamps plan. But then again, there are some G4 vamps that would
be apt reprints. (Tangine, Cedric, Pherydima,...)

Well, but if it's Lasombra, Nos, Trem, and !Ventrue, do we need more
vamps from those clans (sure, they would be great, but some people are
keeping track of which clans have what vamps in which groups - won't new
one's throw that out of whack?).

it's probably all those "wacko" vamps floating around with bloodline
disciplines...

Depends on the group they are coming from. Groups 3+4 seem
essentially complete, with each Camarilla clan having 26 to 29 members
in Groups 3+4 (not counting multiple versions of the same vamp via the
advanced rule). With 28 members, the Tremere are already fairly
numerous. the Nosferatu have 29 members in 3+4.
Most Sabbat clans have only 23 members in Group 3-4 (with some
variation). The Lasombra have a full complement with 23. The !
Ventrue still have only 22.
There is, however, room to add vampires to Group 5. The clans listed
(Las Nos, Trem, !Ven) are about 4 to 7 members behind a full
complement. Giving each clan new vamps would temporarily put them
ahead for a little while ... until the next expansion.
[ quoted text not captured ]
Quick stats extracted from the Secret Library from the groupings
Lasombra: 2+3: 23 / 3+4: 23 / 4+5: 17
Nosferatu: 1+2: 24 / 2+3: 26 / 3+4: 30 / 4+5: 21
Tremere: 1+2: 25 / 2+3: 27 / 3+4: 28 / 4+5: 22
Ventrue antitribu: 2+3: 23 / 3+4: 22 / 4+5: 16
So all of the base clans have at least 3 slots left for group 5, no
matter how you count, but their group 4 is pretty much full.
Then let's take a look at the corresponding bloodlines
Gargoyle: 2+3: 9 / 3+4: 3 / 4+5: 2 (plenty of room in group 4)
Kiasyd: 2+3: 6 / 3+4: 5 / 4+5: 4 (1 more to group 4, 1 for group 5)
Salubri antitribu: 2+3: 6 / 3+4: 5 / 4+5: 4 (1 more to group 4, 1 for
group 5)
Samedi: 2+3: 7 / 3+4: 5 / 4+5: 4 (1 more to group 4, 1 for group 5)
Pretty much the same situation with all the other bloodlines across
the board (exceptions are Gargoyles and Blood Brothers with less
vampires and Baali with groups 4 and 5 filled).

One option here is to add an Advanced vampire or two. There are very
few such vampires for the Bloodlines. Because of the inherent
limitations on Advanced vampires (such as not being able to bring out
both, separately), they don't seem to count as a wholly separate
vampire.
It's also possible that some of the vampires in the starter might be
reprints of key vampires from the previous group. It would be perfectly
feasible, for example, to have a starter that went:
- 1 x reprint Lasombra A - say, Lucy Markowitz
- 1 x reprint Lasbomra B - say, Virginie or Ermenegildo
- 1 x reprint Kiasyd C - say, Dame Hollerton
- 1 x reprint Kiasyd D - say, Omme Enberbenight
- 2 x new Lasombra E (group 5)
- 2 x new Advanced Kiasyd - say, an 8 cap Omme
- 2 x new Kiasyd F
- 2 x new Kiasyd G
So you get twice as many Kiasyd cards as Lasombra. A brand new player
has four-and-a-half Kiasyd to mix and match with, and 3 different
Lasombra to play with. Existing players can get 4 copies of all the new
vampires with only 2 starter purchases - so there's flexibility, without
too much gouging.
Then the other 'starter exclusive' cards would be library cards.
Also, LSJ has previously indicated that he'd quite like the group pairs
to be a bit smoother, so we might well see 2 vampires in group 5 rather
than 1 in 4, 1 in 5. So in the above example, F and G might both be
group 5.

Sure. There's been plenty of bitching about the lack of
deflections. I'm sure the "new art" problem has been solved by now.
More of a long shot: maybe a Parity Shift in the Tremere starter (I
think there's room for at least one more Prince in Group 5).
Also, weighted walking sticks in the !Salubri starter, please.

Brother in Arms with Brass Knuckes
Trap, Sword of the Righteous, Shared Strength, Undead Persistence.
Save the Brass Knuckles for the end.

Or the other basic clans could get a few vampires in the boosters.
It's a big set to be just bloodlines.
[ quoted text not captured ]
Possible reprints that feel important to those of us who haven't
played the game since '94, in descending order by importance:
Parity Shift
Shroud of Absence
Blanket of Night
Deflection
Camarilla Vitae Slave
Also possibly:
Pentex Subversion
Liquidation
Carlton van Wyk
Nephandus (though that would be very non-thematical for the set)
Tupdog
Govern the Unaligned
Adam Esbjörnsson,
Prince of Lindesberg
[ quoted text not captured ]
Not obviously. Depends upon how it breaks down. 170 cards in the
boosters could break down as follows:
50 Rares
50 Uncommons
50 Commons
20 Vampires
Plus 24 new vampires in the boosters = 44 new vampires.

A fun version of an old trick, but needlessly complicated.
How about this:
Any vampire at all, no equipped weapon needed.
Trap, Shared Strength, Undead Persistence, Molotov Cocktail to reset the
trap.
Save the Molotov for the end.

I believe that information is in error.
The starters do not have starter-exclusive cards this time around.

Could be 50 each of Rare, Uncommon, Common +20 vampires. If there are
only 20 vampires, I would guess they might break down as follows,
(with 1 or 2 vampires per clan in Group 5 and the rest in Group 4):
7x Gargoyles
3x Samedi
2x Kiasyd
2x Ahrimanes
2x !Salubri
2x Daughters
2x Harbingers
That (or something along those lines) would pretty-much complete the
4-5 set

That would be problematic. What would the booster distribution be?
Does everyone end up with like 15 copies of each vampire in order to
get enough of everything else, or do you only put one vampire in each
booster?
Since grouping was established, vampires are the one card type that
can be printed freely without risk of upsetting the power curve (or
the overcompensation to that risk, more wallpaper). If anything,
crypt cards should make up more than 1/3 of each set, not less.

I see no problem with the latter solution. (Neither would I be averse
to 19-card boosters, like in the good old days).

Sorry. I don't agree at all. I have no objection to them taking it
slowly and cautiously when creating new sets and new cards, to ensure
balance, but have no desire to have them keep churning out new groups
just because they can.
Anything that adds something new to the game will risk upsetting the
power curve to some extent. The whole point of an expansion is to add
something new to the game.

Why are people so dead certain on these four (with the exception of
the kiasyd) clans/bloodlines?
Spiritual hunger could as well be Ahrimanes or Harbringers as !Sal
could it not?
Stony resilence just says fortitude (and stone in the case of
gargoyles) so Samedi, Harbringers of Skulls, Gargoyles and !Salubri
could all be viable reasons for that remark and it should/would be the
the one statement that covers two starters (since pricing indicate a
box of 8 starters).

Because a distributor has announced them.

At this stage, distributors have often been given information that
allows them to decide what they want to buy.
