If this happened, wouldn't the Anathematized vampire be burned as soon as he paid his last blood to untap with Majesty? When the Majesty is played (and paid for), the vampire is still in combat, right? (From what I've read, the rule is that Anathema burns a vampire when its blood goes from more-than-zero to zero in combat, regardless of whether it's burning blood for damage taken or to pay for cards the Anathematized vampire is playing. Yes?) Anathema cardtext: "Choose a ready vampire. If the <referendum> is successful, put this card on that vampire. If that vampire is reduced to zero blood <in> combat, he or she is burned, and the Methuselah controlling the opposing minion gains pool equal to the burned vampire's capacity." Toreador Grand Ball: What happens if you only control one ready Toreador? Can you still play the card? Do you choose that one vampire as both the first and second Toreador? If so, is it legal to choose the same vampire as both first and second when you do control multiple ready Toreador? Toreador Grand Ball cardtext: "Put this card in play. Choose two ready Toreador you control. The first Toreador cannot be blocked unless he or she attempts to bleed. The second Toreador does not untap as normal during the untap phase; tap the second Toreador. This card may be burned by any minion as a (D) action; Nosferatu get -1 stealth when attempting that action." Thanks, Josh wanted to go to the ball but couldn't find a partner

"If the strike does something in addition to ending combat, that something takes place just after the combat ends. [RTR 19970630] " Surely the burn blood to untap effect, therefore, occurs outside of combat? And cannot be counted as inside combat? It seems unlikely that the effect is paid for inside combat but occurs outside combat. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D EBD690ECD7A1F If I had a dick, I'd go get laid. The Majestic minion burns a blood and untaps when the strike resolves. [LSJ 26-APR-2001] [LSJ 01-MAY-2001] and, finally, "in combat but on the RT list" for the above-noted discrepancy with the more obviously "after CE" effects [LSJ 22-SEP-2001]. It hadn't occurred to me before that the untapping didn't happen when the card was played (though it should've). Given the wording "this vampire may burn 1 blood to untap", is the untapping at superior optional? So the vampire can play Majesty at superior and then decide when the strike resolves whether or not to pay the blood and untap? (and then, can you play superior Chiropteran Marauder and decide later in the round to pay the blood to make your hand damage aggravated, or does it only give you the ability "while you're playing the card"?) (I ask because I had thought that, like Minion Tap, you had to make all the decisions when the card was played, not realizing that it actually sets up a slightly-later untapping effect.) Josh
