Hi again, Can an acting Meth play "before maneuver" cards during combat, in answer to another "before maneuver" card played by a reacting Meth? As far as i know, yes. But if the reacting Meth doesn't, it's too late (right?). GP41

Yes, since it is still before range. Acting Meth: (Possibly playing some or no cards before range). I'm done. Reacting Meth: I'll play Torn Signpost Acting Meth: In that case I'll play Song of Serenity. >As far as i know, yes. But if the reacting Meth doesn't, it's too late >(right?). Acting Meth: I'm not playing before range. Defending Meth: Me neither Acting Meth: So I'll play Torn Signpost. <------- Illegal -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D EBD690ECD7A1F She twirled a lock of hair around her forefinger and smiled B457CA213D7E6 faintly. I may have just misunderstood the judge, but at the Columbia, SC FN precon I believe it was clarified that all pre-range for a given Meth must be played at one time. The back and forth thing is just for presses and maneuvers. David Cherryholmes Duke Radiology P.E.T. Facility (919) 684-7714 d...@petsparc.mc.duke.edu [ quoted text not captured ]

No. [6.4.1] Combat Sequence "As usual, the acting minion always gets first opportunity to use a card or effect before the opposing minion at every stage of combat." [1.6.1.5] Sequencing "If two or more players want to play a card or effect, the acting Methuselah plays first. At every stage, the acting player always has the opportunity to play the next card of effect. So, after playing one effect, she may play another and another. Once she is finished, the opportunity passes to the defending Methuselah (in the cases of directed actions and combat), then to the rest of the Methuselahs in clockwise order from the acting Methuselah. ****** Note that if any card or effect is used by any Methuselah, the acting Methuselah again gets the opportunity to play the next effects. ******" (Emphasis mine.)[And when she's done again, the reactor gets a go, of course.] None of these reference only presses or maneuvers. So, it is perfectly legal to have, say: Actor: I play Torn Signpost! Defender: Gah. I play Song of Serenity. Actor: Hmmm... I'll play Increased Strength *and* Fists of Death. Beat that if you can. Defender: Okay, I'll play Carrion Crows (drawn after the Song). Actor: Bah. In that case, I'll, erm.... play another Increased Strength. Bah, I'm attacking with a weenie because I didn't think you had anything offensive. If you're going to damage me, I'm gonna make sure I take you out! Defender: *non-chalantly places a Flesh of Marble on the table* Actor: Aaargh. > The back and forth thing is just for presses and >maneuvers. Nope. [ quoted text not captured ]

If anyone else plays anything, then the actor gets next shot. If everyone passes, however, then actor cannot back up and play a new effect. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
