What happens if Marie Faucigny plays an equipment with cost 0? Does she gain 1 blood/her methuselah gain 1 pool? (My guess is obviously NO, but anyway.) If not - why not? Thanks.

[ quoted text not captured ] No. There's no such thing as a "negative cost".

[ quoted text not captured ] She has to pay 0 blood/pool, and here's why: All quantities in vampire can be negative: Negative strength Negative bleed Negative votes Negative pool Negative intercept Negative stealth etc. However, when the number has to actually do something, if it's less than 0, then its total effect is 0. Like, if you swing with -2 strength, you do 0 damage. If you bleed for -1, they lose 0 pool. If you have negative votes, you cast 0 votes. The only times it matters that you're negative is if you want to: 1) Count the total involved 2) Increase your value above 0 (Disarm interacts with Undead Strength to hit for 1) You can count total intercept or stealth when comparing one to the other, for example, so -1 intercept does matter. Or, you could give a vampire with -1 votes a -1 strength "bonus" from Island of Yiaros. So your equipment really does cost -1 pool, and that means it functions as cost 0 when you equip it, unless something increases the cost. Understand? -- Brian P.S. There are some stated exceptions in the rules to everything going negative, such as vampires are unable to have capacity <1, but that too may be an endpoint limit. LSJ -- if a vampire has 1 capacity, and gets -2 capacity, he still needs 3 skill cards to be a 2 cap, right?

I don't think so for Capacity, because most (all?) card effects that reduce Capacity specifically say it cannot be reduced below 1. So I don't think any further capacity reduction effects 'linger' to be counted against future Skill Cards. [ quoted text not captured ]
