Anything that can prevent normal damage can also prevent aggravated damage
(unless it specifically says so, i.e. Flesh of Marble). If two types of
damage are dealt simultaneously (i.e. Wolf Claws and a Wolf Retainer) and
the recipient is protected by (for example) a flak jacket, then it is the
choice of the person preventing the damage as to which (if any) is prevented.

The flak jacket, etc. will prevent aggro damage, but only one point. If you
take two points of aggro damage, the flak-jack will prevent one, but your vamp
will still eat the other and, thus, still take a trip to torpor.

I thought you had to prevent the normal damage first, I believe it said
so in hte rule book some where but I don't remember to sure ...

I think that I agree with you here, although the rules are not specific.
In the Reslove Strike section of the combat rules it states that damage
prevention cards can be played in that sub-phase, and that "you may play
these cards one at a time until all damage is prevented or until you don't
wish to play anymore". Nowhere does it say that a Meth can choose which
damage to prevent. The DT has ruled that normal damage is applied first,
and then aggravated damage. It might follow from this that a Meth has to
prevent all normal damage before any aggravated damage was prevented.
I really don't know what the official ruling on this is. Of course, I
would much rather be able to specify which damage I was going to prevent.
i just don't know if I have a choice.
Anyone else agree?

I gave this same answer about 2 months ago (when Tom Wylie still graced
this newsgroup with his presence occasionally). He followed-up my post to
say that I had explained it correctly.
Official enough for me...
(You are probably confusing the DTR that normal damage is _applied_
before aggravated damage. Or so I guess...)

No. Anytime you prevent any damage, you get to choose which damage is
prevented. (DT)

Well, that makes me a happy camper. I would much rather stop aggravated
damage than normal, any day of the week.
Thanks for the official word.

Well, here's the post you seem to have in mind. The answer is still correct.

That is correct.
