A few questions came up in my last gaming session:
1) Can Disarm be used when the opposing vampire is already going to
torpor at the end of a round? 1a) If so, will Disarm take effect
immediately for cases such as Undead Persistence? 1b) Vamp A does 1 hand
damage total while Vamp B does 3 non-hand damage total. Vamp A may use
disarm correct?
2) A Vamp takes an action and modifies it with a Day Operation. Although
the action cannot be blocked, another vampire may still "attempt" to
block using WWEF, 2nd Tradition, etc. correct?
3) Entombment is only usable at close/short?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. Does anyone have any information on OrcCon (or is it OrCon?), the
gaming convention to be held in Los Angeles sometime in February?

Yes.

For undead persistence, the vampire protected by UP cannot go to torpor by
any means other than those stated on the card UP. They can, however, be
burned outright.

"Only usable at the end of a round of combat in which this vampire
successfully inflicted more damage at close range than the opposing
vampire."
The only criteria are amount of damage, and range. The type of damage is
irrelevant. So, if I shoot you with a Sub Machine Gun at close, and you
hit me with hands for 1, you cannot play Disarm because I did more damage
to you at close range.

WWEF is not a block attempt, so it is perfectly valid (you might want to
wake to deflect, say).
2nd requires you to attempt to block. The action cannot be blocked, nor
can you attempt to block it - you cannot attempt something you
specifically cannot do.
2nd text (including errata):
Requires ready Prince or Justicar. +2 intercept. Also usable by a tapped
Prince or Justicar, even if intercept is not yet needed, to untap and
attempt to block with +2 intercept.

> 3) Entombment is only usable at close/short?
Yes. It doesn't state long range capability and so, as a strike, is only
usable at close range.

This is NOT correct. Undead Persistence "prevents" only the current
torporizing effect. Refer to the latest printing of Undead Persistence,
the Sabbat version, and this article from last November:

This IS correct. The most recent Rules Team rulings "fixed" the
Sabbat version, and the card operates as per its Jyhad text, as
otherwise it would be completely useless.
(end of round, you play UP, do not go to torpor, next round starts,
you have unhealed damage, before range you go to torpor or play
another UP. How pointless.)

OK, thanks for the answers. However, I am actually more interested in knowing
whether or not the effects of Disarm (-1 or -2 hand damage) are applied for
the remainder of combat. Case in point, a weenie trap/ud is trying to keep
rounds going and racking up hand damage. The weenie may not go to torpor just
because I play Disarm, but they will immediately begin doing negative hand
damage correct?
Thanks for the assistance. Oh, my bad on question 1b. I remembered it as
"successfully inflicted more (hand) damage." Thanks for the Con. info. too.

Disarm card text: (combat, Potence)
"Only usable at the end of a round of combat in which this vampire
successfully inflicted more damage at close range than the opposing
vampire. Put this card on the opposing vampire and send that vampire
into torpor. The vampire with this card has -1 hand damage; he or she
may burn this card by burning 3 blood. (S) As above, but the vampire
with this card has -2 hand damage."
So, since the -1 hand damage has no other specifications, it can be
assumed to mean "immediately". If the vampire is not going to torpor
(by the effects of the UP, for example), he would still have -1 hand
damage for the next round, or even for any strikes after the Disarm
(for anyone playing the incredible for/CEL deck and using free
additional strikes).

Self-correction: disarm specifies "at the end of a round", so
additional strikes for that round would happen before Disarm was ever
played. Oops.

Current errata suggests otherwise.
Undead Persistence - Combat (for)
Undead Persistence will protect the vampire from torpor (but not from
being burnt) for the duration of its effect (until end of combat or three
rounds with no cards). This is errata to the Sabbat version. [RTR
19991206]
(Later than that November article.)

They are.

Correct.

Correct. Note that no minion can attempt to block an unblockable action.
A minion cannot attempt to block an action that he is prohibited from
blocking (via Day Operation, Incriminating Videotape, Blood Bond, etc.)
This is really only interesting when the would-be blocker has something
like Blessing of Chaos, but it also prevents you from "cycling" cards
that require a block attempt, like Second Tradition.

Correct.
