No.
Without specific card text allowing the delay, you cannot "carry over"
damage prevention to another phase.

The card lets you treat the damage as normal, but it does not prevent
the damage, and its ability to prevent a damage for you is lost.

No, it is lost when it is played. If you don't have damage
to prevent, playing it as superior is not of any value to you,
as the card doesn't have text letting you save the prevention
for later.
