Can a vampire play Horrid Reality to equip during combat with a weapon that he is not allowed to equip with (e.g, a Ravnos equipping with a Kali's Fang)?. Greetings, Damnans

No. It uses the term "equip" and hence follows all the rules for equip actions. (In this case, the payment is over-rided by card text.) -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D "You reinstall Dial-Up Networking. I actually e-mailed LSJ about this a few months back when I had no posting access to USENET (and found out that his cousin works for the same company as me) - the answer was yes. You do not have to meet any of the requirements normally needed to put the card into play (e.g. blood/pool cost, clan affiliation, discipline requirements) when using Horrid Reality BUT you must still meet requirements for use; e.g. if you used HR and the first weapon you came to in your deck was Femur of Toomler: Equipment, Tzimisce, 2 pool Unique melee weapon. Strength+1 aggravated damage each strike. it's fine, as it normally requires a Tzimisce to equip it, but not to use it. However, Sword of Judgment: Equipment, Brujah Antitribu, 2 pool Unique melee weapon. Strength+1 damage each strike, with an optional additional strike each round. Only usable by Brujah Antitribu. would be unusable; the Ravnos would illusorily-equip with it via HR, but could not use it because of card text restricting its use (not just 'equipability') to !Brujah. Note the Ravnos would still be forced to equip with this unusable weapon - they could not continue searching for a useable one. In other words, you ignore the normal requirements for the weapon to place it into play, but after that and until it 'vanishes', it works as normal equipment (e.g. can be affected by 'destroy equipment/steal equipment' cards, cannot be used by a vampire under the influence of Drawing out the Beast etc). This this 'still equipment even though it's illusory' also prevents Beast, Leatherface of Detroit using it if he was given Chimerstry via discipline master cards (card text - 'He cannot have or use equipment or retainers') - just in case that can o' beans threatened to get opened again by this thread ;-) - Rafe

Note however, the James's point about the use of "equip" is correct and contradicts my previous answer. I'll put this on the RT list for review. Until then, treat the answer as "No" - a reversal of my previous email to you. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
