AFAIR after declaration that noone wants to block, eagle's sight wont change this. sinaath

After seeing Stefan Ferencis (sp?) trick on Orpheus during the third round of the EC i´ve been thinking alot about the determine blockers process. What happened was: Orpheus bled his prey with Gratiano, she declined to block. Orpheus asked Stefan if he wanted to block with his crosstable tzi deck packing eagle´s sight, to which Stefan responded: "At the moment i´m not able to block". As a result, Orpheus played a Conditioning and then Stefan played an Eagle´s sight and blocked the action, preventing the oust. LSJ was standing about and confirmed that this was a legal play because Stefan didn´t specificly declined to block the action. And so for a small (similar) example involving Anneke. Set-up: One vampire (Gratiano) controlled by player A. One vampire (Suzanne kadim) Controlled by player B. Anneke controlled by crosstable player C. Gratiano bleeds player B. Player B declines to block. Player A asks if player C wishes to block. Question 1) If player C declines to block, can Anneke still block if she is not asked specificly? (i.e the correct play for A would be: Player C block? "no", Anneke block? ...) Lets suppose Anneke declines to block. Player A plays conditioning. Player B deflects Gratiano to Player C with Suzanne. Question 2) Can Anneke attempt to block the action? Question 3) How is this answer affected with the 2/12 RTR? And now for something completely different. Are you allowed to play non-referendum Action modifiers (such as Approx of loyalty) and non-referendum reaction cards (wakes etc) during a referendum? (After the action is successful) Are you restricted to using a single counter from the Polaris Coach for each action due to the "During X do Y" ruling? //Daniel

Incorrect. LSJ was not asked about it until afterwards. LSJ did not hear the exchange; the exchange was related to LSJ after the fact. LSJ said that "I'm not able to block" is, in that context, a declaration of "I don't block." > And so for a small (similar) example involving Anneke. > > Set-up: One vampire (Gratiano) controlled by player A. > One vampire (Suzanne kadim) Controlled by player B. > Anneke controlled by crosstable player C. > > Gratiano bleeds player B. > Player B declines to block. > Player A asks if player C wishes to block. > > Question 1) If player C declines to block, can Anneke still block if > she is not asked specificly? No. > > Lets suppose Anneke declines to block. > > Player A plays conditioning. > Player B deflects Gratiano to Player C with Suzanne. > > Question 2) Can Anneke attempt to block the action? The target has changed. All previous "I don't block" decisions are voided. > > Question 3) How is this answer affected with the 2/12 RTR? Polaris doesn't use the During X template, so the ruling on what the During X template means doesn't apply. See the link given to the other few times that question has been asked of Polaris Coach. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. The decision not to block is, as always, final (until and unless the target changes). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
