Hi ! some questions about timing... 1 majesty ! my vamp in combat has only one blood left. I know my opponent can play catatonic fear and inflict him 1 damage. I play Majesty at superior, then wait for his strike. It is a catatonic, so i decide not to burn blood to untap (so i don't go to torpor). I guess this is perfectly legal. 2 Vagabond mystic ! I have a nephandus with only one life left. I recruit a vagabond mystic, and decide to tap it immediatly to heal the nephandus. since it is not an action, merely a "tapping" effect, i think it is perfectly legal. what do you think ? 3 Taste of vitae ! Two vampires are in combat. Vamp a strikes for 2 and inflicts 1 damage with Carrion crow. Vamp B strikes for 3. No vampires decides to prevent damage. Then vamp B decides to blur, and declares a strike for 4 hand damage. Can vampire A now play "Taste of vitae" to gain the 3 blood lost by vamp B during the preceding pair of strikes ? If not, what prevents him from using taste at this point, since card text only says "after strike resolution" ? since he could play "wolf claws" at any time, why shouldn't he play "taste" after the first strike resolution ? Each of the preceding examples ocurred in games played tonight. thanks for your help. reyda

No. "After strike resolution" means "immediately after". He could play it after the first blurred strike (assuming he's still ready, that is). -- L. In this particular instance, though, I don't think he can *wait* to see his opponent's strike before deciding which level to play Majesty at. My assumption has been that you lock in cards immediately upon playing them, even before you draw to replace.

He then "may" pay a blood to untap when the strike resolves (card text). -- L. Scott Johnson - V:TES NetRep for White Wolf, Inc. http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes

So, any instance of "may" on a strike card is determined when strike resolves? I don't see where card text has anything to do with it since it doesn't mention when you may do it. Is there anything in the rules body that suggests that card decisions aren't made when the cards are played?

Lucky Blow doesn't indicate when the damage is done, either. The rules, however, specify when the strikes resolve. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
