I just read the tournament rules, and I have see that a tournament must
have a least 3 round .
So how is it possible that some player on the White wolf registry have
rating with only 1 or 2 game ? (and some other had 9, and later 11 ...)
Thanx.

Um...they went home after round one or two? Perfectly legal.
also the rules are for 3 rounds plus a final so;
9= 3+ 3+ 3
or;
11= 3+final +3+final +3 (and then don't make the final 'cos yer playing
a duff Lasombra deck).
It should be possible to play any number of games and still get a
ranking.

Most likely the person had to bail out of the tourney before then end.

and what if you have 8 players (or 12) to a tournament, and one leaves ?
??
I think that it is not fair to leave a tournament before the end... it
is the best way for not going into the final and so not loose against
the best player...

Sure, in an ideal world no one would leave before the end of a
tournament. However, if you realise that you have constructed a steaming
pile of a deck, getting beaten up by the other players for six hours is
pretty rough.
What if the tournament overruns for some reason? Your arguement seems
to be that players could drop out before getting beaten by the good
players in the final. To which the only answer is: beat them earlier.
It's irritating to have to reorganise the pairings after someone drops
out, but sort of the organisers taking the players hostage for 8 hours
(min) there is little you can do.

I'm not sure about the 1 or 2 games, but the 9 and 11 are easy to explain.
Until recently, tournaments had to consist of 4 rounds - 3 preliminary and
1 final. 9 games can = 3 tournaments w/o ever reaching the finals. 11
games can = 3 tournaments, 2 reaching the final and 1 w/o.

There's so much more I could have done if they'd let me!"

>> Three Rounds and a Final (4 rounds Total)
In fact, the rule said :
3.1. Round Structure
V:TES tournaments shall consist of a minimum of three rounds. The five
players with the highest total Victory Points from the preliminary two
(or more) rounds advance to the final round.
So, the total round can be 3 (2 Rounds and a Final) or 4 (3 Rounds and
a Final)

Fair or not, sometimes it happens, and has to. Were I to be running a
tournament, the fact that, say, someone had just been called off because
of an accident, or some other major personal crisis, would not impede the
running of the tournament.

Interesting. The standard interpretation tends to be 3 rounds + final,
but yours is supportable by the text of the rules.

The rules are clear on this point:
V:TES tournaments shall consist of a minimum of three rounds. The
five players with the highest total Victory Points from the
preliminary two (or more) rounds advance to the final round.
[VEKN 3.1].
The only interpretation I can see from that ("standard" or otherwise)
is minimum of three rounds: two prelim. rounds plus a final round.
The V:EKN rules differ from the old DCI rules on this point.

about this players leaving before end of tournement...there are
several reasons for this...
1) people who have travels distances to get there and have to get the
train/bus home. this happens to us on a regular basis due to
tournements running over and us having to get a train home - not our
fault but if you want to argue with british rail....
2)people not being very well. I have started tournement thinking !i'll
be fine " and realiseing half way through that "no, i'm not fine" and
having to pull out. I've never had anyone think it was becuase I was
getting my ass kicked. cos normally, i get my ass kicked at
tournements.
3) most of us work tournements around work so for some of us, we
occassionally have to make it back for work or such like (example -
matt green - who does do over 100 miles round trip to play and still
makes it back for his work shift).
I don't like leaving tournements early but its a bit selfish of you to
think that I should stay cos the rules say so. I always try to do it
fairly so that it doesn't botch up to many peoples games.
just my half shilling on the topic,
Anam

Michael once had an asthma attack during a sealed-deck tournament and had
to be invalided out after the second round. i really don't think the
question of fairness comes into this!

Of course unexpected things can come up that would require a player
to leave early. That's unfortunate, but should be handled by the judge.
A player should, however, *plan* on attending the whole tournament.
If you know in advance that you cannot stay for the whole tournament
(or at the very least, *all* of the preliminary rounds), you should
simply not attend the tournament at all. *Planning* to leave in the
middle of the tournament (with all the problems that that causes) would
not be fair.

I guess we could paa a hat round or something for funds for the

gaffer tape and bendy straws sprayed silver and gold? : )
