Rufina Soledad is battling it out with Beast, after playing Trap and Undead Persistence at the start of combat. It is now the end of the 3rd round, and Rufina has taken 6 damage and has given 3. No cards were played in round 2 or 3, and the only cards played in round 1 were Trap and U.D. Does combat now end? According to Trap "During the press step, if any Methuselah has played a card earlier in the current round or during the two previous rounds, the Trap automatically provides a press to continue . . ." (from Ethan's wonderful Monger). So, I would assume that combat would continue another round since the Trap & U.D. were played in the 1st round. In other words, Trap will generally cause a combat to last *four* rounds, right?? Assuming the above is true, if Rufina played a Fake Out during Round 4, then combat wouldn't end until the end of Round 7, right?? Finally, let's say that Beast uses Burning Wrath during Round 4. Does the agg damage burn Rufina?? Yes, let's assume that at this late round, Rufina has no blood on her and no damage protection cards. Thanks in advance, Madman Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Given the fact that you can't prevent aggrivated damage to a wounded vampire, nor can you burn blood to prevent her destruction, then therefore she burns (with a popping sound vaguely resenbling chestnuts roasting). Just to be sure: a vamp who's used UP at inf. is considered wounded, so it only takes one ag. damage to burn him, right? What about a vamp sent to torpor with Coma? Is he considered wounded as well? If a minion use sup. Coma and also deals ag. damage in the same strike resolution, what happens? Mathieu

First, If you had a vampire with 3 blood who was in combat with a malk-anti with a ghoul retainer and a flamethrower, and then the malk-anti hit you with a coma while the ghoul retainer hit you with the flame thrower, your vampire would go to torpor (from the coma) and then burn two blood (to prevent destruction from the aggrivated damage). The vampire would only burn if he had less than two blood, because he would not be able to prevent his destruction from the aggrivated damage inflicted by the flamethrower. Umm, I think you are wrong. I'm sure that she could use Skin of Rock (or other free damage prevention cards) while under the influence of Undead Persistence to prevent the damage done by Burning Wrath... LSJ? If you read the above, "Finally, let's say that Beast uses Burning Wrath during Round 4. Does the agg damage burn Rufina?? Yes, let's assume that at this late round, Rufina has no blood on her and no damage protection cards. ", then you will notice that Rufina has no damage protection cards. I never said that you couldn't use them. BTW, you would have lost our bet about Corruption's Purge. I'll take that $50 in Confederate Currency. [ quoted text not captured ]

To which I respond: Well the way that you phrased your response: "Given the fact that you can't prevent aggrivated damage to a wounded vampire..." I thought you meant to imply that even if they HAD damage prevention cards they couldn't use them. Thanks for the clarification though... Mari [ quoted text not captured ]

(My original reply on Monday never reached Deja, so I assume it didn't reach many of you, so here it is again) He is wounded, correct (card text). Each point of agg done to a wounded vampire will burn him unless he burns a blood to prevent destruction. > What about a vamp sent to torpor with Coma? Is he considered wounded > as well? If a minion use sup. Coma and also deals ag. damage in the > same Yes. [6.4.6] > strike resolution, what happens? He gets "on his way to torpor" (wounded) from the Coma and accumulates X agg damage. Then damage is handled, so he burns X blood to prevent his destruction (or, if he cannot, he is burned). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. (Again, my original reply didn't get far, so here it is again) Wounded vampires can prevent damage in exactly the same way that healthy vampire can. (Although, typically, the damage prevention is done before the "wounding"). A wounded vampire with blood (not sure of the context of the initial quote above - if it included the idea that tha vamp was empty, then this section doesn't apply) can (must) burn blood to prevent destruction from aggravated damage. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
