In combat, if you reduce a vampire to less than zero, he goes to torpor. Right? I've read a few postings that say something like, "you hit him and then burn the vampire." I thought the only way to burn a vamp was through diablerie or bloodhunt (or the various cards that allow you to destroy a vamp). These people talk about being able to do it with just weapons in combat. Am I missing something? If anyone can help me or straighten me out, it would be greatly appreciated. thanx Steve

[ quoted text not captured ] Technically, you cannot reduce a vampire to fewer than zero blood. The blood is used to heal. Take a point of damage -> spend one blood to heal. If he takes a point of damage that he cannot heal, he goes to torpor, with zero blood. Aggravated damage is what your question is about. The first point of aggravated damage cannot be healed, so a vampire who takes aggravated damage will go to torpor after the rest of the aggravated damage is applied. Aggravated damage beyond the first point is "healed" by spending blood. 2 agg -> topor and spend one blood to "heal" Finally, if you take aggravated damage that you cannot heal (agg >= blood+2), the vampire is burned outright. This does not consitute diablerie, nor does the vampire pass thru torpor on his way to the ash pile. A vampire with 1 blood who takes three aggravated damage is burned, because he could not heal all of the agg damage after the first point. L. Scott

[ quoted text not captured ] In combat, if you inflict enough regular damage to take a vampire to less than zero, that vampire goes to torpor. It can then be burned in a variety of ways while in torpor. However, aggravated damage is handled differently. The first point of aggravated damage does not cause any blood to be lost from the victim vampire, but does send it to torpor. If more than one point of aggravated damage is inflicted, any damage in excess of one causes the victim vampire to lose a blood for every point in excess. If aggravated damage (in excess of one) takes a vampire to less than zero blood, that vampire is burned. This is not considered diablerie. There are a few weapons that do aggravated damage (i.e., flamethrower (2R), Sengir's Dagger (1)). It is possible to burn a vampire using a weapon that does aggravated damage, but again, the damage done must be in excess of one AND take the victim vampire to less than zero damage. Normal damage weapons (i.e., 44 magnum, deer rifle) do not allow the user to burn a victim unless a card played during combat creates an exception. [ quoted text not captured ] if the vampire goes below zero from aggrivated damage he dies for instance Dr john only has one blood on him and he takes three aggrivated the first point of aggrivated never removes blood from the card but the next point brings him to zero the next burns him kittengrrl

[ quoted text not captured ] If a vampire takes enough aggrivated damage to lower it to -1 blood, it is burned insted of going to torpor. That's what they're talking about. R.A.H.
