Two questions about that foolish weapon, the Stake, of which I have only the Jyhad version, and as such, I may not know the Wooden Stake text answers these very questions... 1) In order for the Stake damage to become agg., does the "more than one damage" have to occur in a single combat, or in a single round? 2) My Stake-wielding minion is opposed by a vamp with one blood. I strike with the Stake, my opponent strikes with hands. I then strike with superior Blur, Staking the crap out of them. I believe the opposing minion is burned, but does the Stake go with the minion, since it is "given to the minion after use?" -yes I'm building a CEL stupid weapons deck, who asked you? Heslin

"Melee Weapon. This weapon inflicts strength damage as a strike. If more than damage is inflicted on the opposing vampire by this weapon in a given combat, then that vampire is sent to torpor. In that case, this card is transferred to him and he does not untap as normal during the untap phase as long as he remains in torpor." >2) My Stake-wielding minion is opposed by a >vamp with one blood. I strike with the Stake, >my opponent strikes with hands. I then strike >with superior Blur, Staking the crap out of them. >I believe the opposing minion is burned, No, because of the above. Also, the agg damage rules as they now stand would not burn the vampire even if Wooden Stake were written as it used to be, in the situation you give. Your strike with the Stake would reduce them to zero blood. Your superior blur would be redundant. The first strike would (were it not for the re-write) have given you agg damage and resolved then. The first point of agg damage would send them to torpor. Now, because they're on their way to torpor, you'd need another point of damage to burn them. The superior blur doesn't do that, since you haven't got to your second additional strike, which resolves sequentially, not in parallel. >but does >the Stake go with the minion, since it is "given >to the minion after use?" Moot. The Stake would be transferred, since the vampire has not been burned. -- James Coupe (Prince of Mercia, England) Vampire: Elder Kindred Network http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net http://www.obeah.demon.co.uk

And the "more than one damage" doesn't have to occur in a single round - it can be spread out over multiple rounds of the single combat. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
