Book of Nod/Strikes?

I've just finished a game of Jyhad with my brother, and 2 specific questions arose: When exactly are you allowed to tap a card that gives extra cards? When would it be allowed to tap the Book of Nod and The Barrens? To me it seems a bit unfair if someone could use these cards in the middle of combat or a vote. Also: Can a minion use the same strike CARD twice in a round? Would it be legal to use Fake out to get to long range and then: use Thrown Sewer lid as the strike and THEN (point coming up) use a blur card (thus gaining 1 additional strike at long range) and then play ANOTHER sewer lid (total damage: 6!) Is a minion allowed to play the same strike card twice in a fight? there seem to be no rule against it in the rulebook (only stuff about reaction/modifier cards). Regards Simon Pedersen PS: Thanks for all the replies about Tremere - expect a deck posting soon.

As a rule of thumb, you can use such a card whenever you would be able to play a card (and you would then be able to play something). For example, if your minion is blocking, you can see what the acting minion's strike is, then use Barrens, then play a strike. >To me it seems a bit unfair if someone could use these cards in the middle >of combat or a vote. Well, we consider it perfectly acceptable. >Can a minion use the same strike CARD twice in a round? You can't use the same actual combat card twice in a round, no. But you could use more than one copy of a card, given the right number of strikes, and could use the same weapon repeatedly, for example. >Would it be legal to use Fake out to get to long range and then: >use Thrown Sewer lid as the strike and THEN (point coming up) >use a blur card (thus gaining 1 additional strike at long range) >and then play ANOTHER sewer lid (total damage: 6!) It may seem unfair but it is legal. The Book of Nod and Barrens can be tapped anytime. However, before cards can be played, the person must discard to the proper hand size. >Also: >Can a minion use the same strike CARD twice in a round? Yes, but only one addition strike card. >Would it be legal to use Fake out to get to long range and then: >use Thrown Sewer lid as the strike and THEN (point coming up) >use a blur card (thus gaining 1 additional strike at long range) >and then play ANOTHER sewer lid (total damage: 6!) >Is a minion allowed to play the same strike card twice in a fight? >there seem to be no rule against it in the rulebook >(only stuff about reaction/modifier cards). This is perfectly legal. If he had another additional strike, he could chuck anonter sewer lid at you, doing a total of 9 damage. (Imagine this second round, chucking 3 Well Aimed Cars: Ouch!) >Regards > Simon Pedersen >PS: Thanks for all the replies about Tremere - expect a deck posting soon. With this in mind, you can Blur those Thefts of Viteas, Cauldrons, and Blood Furies.

I don't have the cards here in front of me so I'll leave this question to someone else... >Also: >Can a minion use the same strike CARD twice in a round? >Would it be legal to use Fake out to get to long range and then: >use Thrown Sewer lid as the strike and THEN (point coming up) >use a blur card (thus gaining 1 additional strike at long range) >and then play ANOTHER sewer lid (total damage: 6!) >Is a minion allowed to play the same strike card twice in a fight? >there seem to be no rule against it in the rulebook >(only stuff about reaction/modifier cards). Yes, you can use the same strike card twice in a round, of course you have to have two of that card. I once had Anvil manuever to long range in the second round, throw a sewer lid, blur and then throw a second lid and with his 2nd strike from the blur, throw a well aimed car... Ouch... Lucretia was not happy. chris rho...@medicine.wustl.edu
