?: the Jones and Thrown Gate

If the opposing minion plays Thrown Gate during the maneuver phase, do I play superior The Jones then to cancel the strike card being played, or do I wait until the strike phase to play the card (thus canceling the strike)? thanks, dancingmummy

On a related note, if I played superior The Jones in response to a superior Arms of the Abyss, I assume that the additional strike would be canceled as well as the dodge, since the additional strike "comes with" the dodge. Is that correct? On an unrelated note, if Anza, Priestess of Thorns Clan Impersonates to become a Ravnos (I realize that she already is one), does she then become Independent? thanks, dancingmummy
