Alas... no previews, yet.

A few new/changed rules are there though;
New Rules
Remember that updated rules don't go into effect until the set is legal
for play.
Trifles: This set updates the trifle rules both to remove the
restriction against playing more than one trifle in each master phase
(although only the first one grants an additional master phase action),
and to handle out-of-turn trifles (which function just as you would
expect).
Draft effects: New to this set, some of the booster cards (reprints
included) that require a Discipline or clan to use have additional texts
on them which give them an alternate way of being used in draft and
sealed tournaments. Sometimes this alternate use is the same effect as
the normal usage, but with a different requirement. Other times, it is a
different usage (and often both). The alternate uses are clearly labeled
with "DRAFT:" text and set apart from the normal card text. The
alternate effect is only usable in draft and sealed play. In standard
constructed play, the draft text is ignored.

New trifle change looks A-OK AFAIC...
I hope the draft effects don't clutter/confuse the cards overmuch, but
otherwise the mechanism looks to be a smart 'un. Way to go, Design
Team!

One question about this (already):
Is the Draft Effect a part of "Most Recent Printing" of the card?
For example, will I have to remember what the "DRAFTFERIOR" of Claws of
the Dead is, when I'm drafting Anarchs?

Fine question. And more importantly, fine introduction of good lingo
:-)

Heh.
I was going to try to lobby for something more creative.
Like "transferior". Or "cheatferior".
But "draftferior" just seems like it's going to stick, I think.

So, does this mean that we could theoretically see:
*...another set with Claws of the Dead in it, with yet another Draft Effect?
*...a single set with multiple different versions of Claws of the Dead with
different Draftferiors?
Sorry to speak hypothetically, and sorry to pick on Claws, but it's the only
card we know has one of these effects...
This is purely a speculative post, and I'm not necessarily looking for an LSJ
answer to it. :)

Each preconstructed deck contains 6 new vampires that aren't found in
the boosters, many of which are included twice in their respective
starters.

Theoretically, sure.
Probably not in practice, though.
But if you're drafting 3rd Ed and Sabbat War, only the 3rd Ed cards
will have draft effects on them. The copies of those same cards found
in SW will just be "plain".

Speaking as the person who suggested it to Josh on IRC, I vote for
draftferior (if only to irritate Gines. :P )

I actually have another question about this same "draftferior" mechanic:
In draft, are you allowed to use the basic, regular, effect of the card, or
are you *only* allowed to use the draftferior effect(s)?

Ug. I stumble over it when spoken aloud... The -ftf- in the middle

Hmm. Draft is only one version of Limited... Limferior?

Well, there's also "exterior". It's a real word, and it kind of describes
the effect.
i.e. Prince Josh teaching a newbie to play (constructed) with 3E cards.
"What does this 'DRAFT' part mean?"
"Oh, that's just an *exterior* effect. You can ignore it for now."

Limferior would be particularly amusing if Disarm had a Draft effect.
Limbfeariority complex.

Heh, I kind of like "limferior". It reminds me of "limburger".
I'm still sad that "inferior" got replaced by "basic" in the rulebook back
when that happened. (Whenever that was.)

Even less likely. We don't need no card effect what sounds like
stinky cheese.

Never, AFAICT. The Jyhad Rules failed to give any term to the basic,
merely defining superior.
The 1995 VTES rules called the basic "basic".

A handful of questions about the new Trifle rules. LSJ, please confirm:
#1. The new ruling states that "only the first one grants an additional
master phase action." I play Life In the City but it gets Suddened. If
I tap The Parthenon for a second master phase action and play another
Life In the City, do I gain an extra master phase action from the
Trifle? Based on the wording of the rules, I would say no since this is
not "the first one." True?
#2. Let's pretend an out-of-turn Trifle exists. If I play it during my
prey's turn, can I play another out-of-turn Master (or Trifle) during
my grandprey's turn? Based on previous rulings on Synesios (his ability
does not allow you to play multiple Master OOT's), I would guess that
you cannot do this. Right?
#3. I play an out-of-turn Trifle during my predator's turn. Since this
"function[s] just as [I] would expect", I assume I just get my normal
master phase action during my turn. (1 is the base, -1 due to the
Master OOT, +1 due to the Trifle = 1). Yes?
#4. I play an out-of-turn Trifle during my predator's turn. During my
turn, can I gain an additional master phase action by playing a Trifle
now, or did I already benefit from it with the OOT I played earlier?
Based on the wording of the rules, it seems like I can gain another
master by playing a Trifle. Verdad?
#5. I play an out-of-turn Trifle during my predator's turn and I burn a
pool to use Synesios' special. I now get 2 master phase actions during
my next master phase. Correct?

Uh, but "draftferior" is funny. And nicely echoes "inferior" and
"outferior".
Draftferior is is.

That's "based on the wording in the preview".
In the rules, the wording is a little more stilted so as to handle all
the angles:
When a Methuselah plays a trifle (and it isn't canceled), she gains
an additional master phase action. For an out-of-turn trifle, she gains
a master phase action in her next master phase. A Methuselah can gain
only one master phase action from trifles in a given master phase;
others act like regular master cards.
So if the first is canceled, it doesn't provide an additional MPA. If
another MPA is available, and it is used to play a trifle, though, then
that second one provides an MPA.

Since "it functions as you would expect", correct.

Correct.

The actual rules text covers this angle as well (only one MPA in a
master phase can come from trifles, which is "as one would expect" for
an OOT trifle).

Yes.

Agreed. :)
Won't it be great when a Bloodlines discipline card is printed that has a
draftferior, outferior, inferior, and superior effect?
