Hi, These two questions about what happens in what order arose during last nights gaming. 1. Zachary (CEL) bleeds, Sir Walter Nash blocks and plays majesty. Next Zachary wants to play psyche to start a new combat with Sir Walter but Queen Anne (who is controlled by the blocking meth) wants to play fast reaction to torporize Zachary with her Flame thrower. Which card is played first? We ruled that Psyche goes first since is played _at_the_end_ of combat and is a combat card, as opposed to Fast Reaction which is played when combat has just been completed and is a reaction. 2. Joaquina attempts to do a superior Tier of Souls on Zachary (who has only one blood on him). Zachary plays a Forced Awakening to block but Joaquina adds one stealth so that the action goes through. Does Zachary burn his blood (for Forced Awakening) before Joaquina can move it? Does Joaquina gain the +1 bleed from superior Tier of Souls? We ruled that Zachary burns the blood for forced before Joaquina could move it and therefore she did not get +1 bleed. TG

The acting Methuselah always has the first option to play further effects. Therefore in this case Zachary would play the Psyche to restart the combat. However, you are also correct that the combat card would have the first option to be played so if the reacting Methuselah played a Psyche it would happen before any other actions by the acting Methuselah. > We ruled that Psyche goes first since is played _at_the_end_ of combat > and is a combat card, as opposed to Fast Reaction which is played when > combat has just been completed and is a reaction. > > 2. Yes, Zachary burns his blood as soon as it is determined that he cannot/will not block the action. He will then have no blood for the Tier of Souls to steal. > Does Joaquina gain the +1 bleed from superior Tier of Souls? Yes. She was succesful (ie. unblocked) in completing the action whether or not she removed the blood. > We ruled that Zachary burns the blood for forced before Joaquina could > move it and therefore she did not get +1 bleed. IANALSJ but I disagree with your ruling for my reasons stated above. She was not blocked on the action so all possible effects of the action will take place. She will have the +1 bleed. Carpe Noctem. She will have the +1 bleed. Correct. Just as a vampire can gain a blood from superior Cryptic Mission even if the target vampire has no blood to lose. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
