This came up in a tournament. Player A's minion has a Phosphorous Grenade. He blocks Player B's minion and then plays Roteshock. The argument was that the Grenade did not go away because the damage was never resolved. However isn't this much like a Combat ends card in that the strike still occurs,. you just never resolve it. The grenade still is burned isn't it?.

This is better than S:CE, in that combat ends before strike resolution is even approached. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. With Superior Flesh of Marble, with combined agg and normal damage, can the last point be normal? With Soul Gem, is the vamp limited by what the last vamp did? eg, Spirodonas deck + Fort skill card, Force of will, soul gem and Day op. Since the ole spirodonas burned after bleeding, can the new spirodonas bleed that turn?

The one point you "let through" can be any of the points of damage you sustain, yes. But you cannot choose to "let through" a point that you think (or know) will be applied later so that you can prevent all of the currnet damage (for cases like Drawing Out the Beast that set up damage for later). > With Soul Gem, is the vamp limited by what the last vamp did? I understand what you're saying, but I've got one question about your example: doesn't Flesh of Marble "prevent" damage? And isn't DotB superior damage not preventable? -- Pat Ricochet Soul Jar'rn Fool of Atlanta

And isn't DotB superior >damage not preventable? It does, but you cannot ever properly guarantee that damage will be done to a vampire later in a combat. As such, to fulfil Flesh of Marble's requirements, you have to let through one from the first batch of damage you receive. Later on in the round (say, an additional strike), you can continue to prevent all you want. But since you cannot prevent all the points of damage with FoM, you have to let through one as early as possible. For a useful mental image, think of the Borg in Star-Trek. Their shields are kind of like Flesh of Marble. They take the first hit you make, but then quickly adapt and prevent the rest. -- James Coupe | PGP Key 0x5D623D5D "What's wrong with wanting more? [ quoted text not captured ] Right - and you cannot "choose" to the the DotB damage be the one point you don't prevent in order to prevent all the damage from the strike. [ quoted text not captured ]
