If a vampire sends a another vampire to torpor via the Wooden Stake and I decapitate the vampire going to torpor, do I lose the wooden stake? Wood stake says "Strength damage each strike. If more than 1 damage is inflicted on an opposing vampire by this weapon in a given combat, then that vampire is sent into torpor. In that case, this card is transferred to that vampire, and he or she doesn't untap as normal during the untap phase as long as he or she remains in torpor." Decapitate "Only usable when the opposing vampire is going into torpor; not usable by a vampire going into torpor. Burn the opposing vampire instead of sending that vampire to torpor." All cards on a burned vampire are burned. does the burned minion get the stake in the first place? Stake says minion going to torpor gets stake, when decapitate says no torpor, burned. -- Oscar Garza Prince of College Station The Crazy Aggie

All of the stake's effects resolve before decapitate so the stake sends the minion on it's way to torpor and hence the minion gets the stake. Then, because the minion is going to torpor you can play decapitate ( if you meet the other requirements ) which then burns the minion rather then actually allowing it to go to torpor. I would also imagine that if you get staked and play Undead Persistence that you will not got to torpor and now possess a stake which you could potentially give back :) But it is 02:35 here and I'm getting notorious for forgetting small details at this time in the morning so I'm quite possibly wrong :}

Wooden Stake: "If more than 1 damage is inflicted ... this card is transferred to that vampire." (card text) [ quoted text not captured ]
