Hi, my name is Midget, I am a Capitalist. But it's ok, we're Kindred Spirits. AT STEALTH! Throw a Blood Doll on dude, and it's all crazy. Stealth Bleed really needed a boost, thanks! Why wasn't there an archetype for toolbox decks? MacGuyver Master. Archetype. Put this card on a sabbat vampire you control. Once per turn, when this vampire remains ready and and does anything but bleed, call a vote, burn an opposing minion or send an opposing minion to torpor, he or she gains 1 blood from the blood bank. A vampire can have only one archetype. chris -- chris shorb <www.vtesinla.org> (A V:TES site) prince of torrance, california *** Into the abyss I'll fall - the eye of Horus Into the eyes of the night - watching me go Green is the cat's eye that glows - in this temple Enter the risen Osiris - risen again - Dickinson

A vampire can have only one archetype. Too much pool gain with a Blood Doll. You don't even have to pretend to hunt with this card. Helps wall decks more than toolboxy decks. Maybe force them to do *something* :) Improvised Flamethrower has MacGyver vibes all over it. Probably made it with a paperclip, a sausage and an old tea bag. Cheers, WES

[ quoted text not captured ] Why? Capitalist can only be played on a Sabbat vampire. And neither Eddy nor Zoė are Sabbat vampires. Capitalist Master: archetype. Put this card on a Sabbat vampire you control. Once per turn, when this vampire successfully bleeds his or her prey, he or she gains 1 blood from the blood bank. A vampire can have only one archetype. Greetings, Damnans

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't see how it removes the disad of Zoe - sure, it means once in a while she'll gain a blood through a non-hunt action and hunt less often, but it's not like Zoe's going to play a lot of blood-costing stealth cards to get those bleeds through in the first place, when so many zero-blood stealth cards are available to her, and neither of the main Dementation bleed boosters uses blood either. I'd expect that most of the time any blood Zoe gains will wash right off of her... More importantly, neither Zoe nor Eddie is a legal target for Capitalist, which can only be played on a Sabbat vampire. -John Flournoy

Sure, true, but then you don't save the card slots. You're right though, in theory you can get multiple blood per turn from multiple Capitalists. Nonetheless, I challenge anyone to make a deck that abuses Capitalist. Getting a blood a turn for something you were going to do anyway doesn't totally suck, which is why it's probably the best of the Archetypes. But a blood a turn isn't exactly off the charts in power, either. Josh bloodied at every turn

[re Capitalist] > OK, it's probably not broken as in "changing the way the game is > played"-broken, BUT the point is that the best Archtype has been given > to a decktype that was already powerful enough. The interesting thing (well, I find it interesting) is that it's the best Archetype *because* it goes to the best decktype. Bleeding is the easiest thing to succeed at -> bleed decks are in many ways the strongest decks -> the bleed Archetype is the best one. It's kind of self-reinforcing, if you see what I mean: when you make a similar card for various strategies, the bleed one is inherently likely to be the strongest, and then it may therefore make the bleed strategy even stronger. I do think that the countervailing force of "bleed already has so many good cards that new ones have to compete for cardslots with them" has a significant effect, though. Not that this necessarily excuses the principle. After all, "weenie decks need no help" and one could easily make the same argument for bleed decks. :-) > The low-midcap Dem bleeder has been helped in so many ways by Black > Hand: Midget, The Colonel, the card that lets you search a card from > your library (name?), Gemini's Mirror and of course Capitalist. The search card is Sibyl's Tongue and it's a !Malkavian-requiring action. I think that card is interesting and potentially powerful, but it's limited by both being an action (thus competing not only for cardslots but also actions available, and slowing down your ability to use the card you go get) and by costing an increasing amount of blood to search multiple times (cost of the card is X, where X is the number of Sibyl's Tongues already in your ash heap). Josh tongued by a sibyl (the lesser-known spinoff of touched by an angel) (now appearing on FOX!)

True, although then you're no longer able to say "Capitalist removes Zoe's disadvantage, you're now saying "Capitalism combined with Into the Fire removes it", and I'm okay with that. And with regards to the above comments about Zoe: Yes, you can regain a blood through Night Moves. Without Night Moves (or some other card to stealth her bleed), Capitalist doesn't really help at all. If you were already putting Night Moves or other stealth cards in your deck for Zoe, that means you weren't planning to have Zoe hunt in the first place, but bleed bleed bleed. Yes, Capitalist/Into The Fire lets you do 'Blood Doll/Night Moves' instead of how you would play 'Blood Doll/I'll hunt cardlessly' on a similar vampire. Again, I'm totally okay with Capitalist 'removing Zoe's disadvantage' in a fashion that is only reliably effective by both Into the Fire and also the use of even more cards beyond that. Having to play a (at least) three-card combo to undo a vampire's disadvantage is hardly a reason for concern or to claim it makes one of the cards additionally powerful, to me. -John Flournoy

That's just not why it's the most potent Archetype. All you need to bleed successfully is have enough stealth. Every other archetype requires something rather more than this though Guru is fairly close in power. Creep Show relies entirely on the opponent to give you the blood -and when you get the blood it's because of something you didn't really want the opponent to do. Sociopath would need to trigger whenever you do damage to another minion (once a turn/table-round) in order to be equivalent. I think it's a shame that all the archetypes are Sabbat-only.

I'm not clear on how you're disagreeing with me. :-) Bleeding is the easiest thing to do because as you say all you normally need to do to succeed at it is generate some stealth, since it's an action inherent to every vampire. Passing votes, winning fights: these require more cards or more effort, typically. That's a significant advantage that bleed has over other deck types. Actually, you could be disagreeing on my apparent claim of causality, and you might be right to do so. Capitalist may not exactly be the best *because* bleed is the easiest/strongest thing to do as *for the same reason* that bleed is the easiest/strongest thing to do. > I think it's a shame that all the archetypes are Sabbat-only. That's the one :-) Bleed is also strongest because it directly attacks the life of your prey without any complications: this is of no benefit to capitalist.
