Player A and B have the same GW score. Now they are playing the last session of the Prophecies League. Must they play to get the game win, or must they play to win the league? (e.g., B wants to oust A, who is not B's prey, because no other finalist has as many GWs as B.) Greetings, Damnans

[ quoted text not captured ] Well, Prophecies Leagues aren't exactly sanctioned so it depends on how you guys are playing it out. But if you want to follow VEKN rules as a guideline, then it seems logical that they have to play to get the game win for that particular game. (You can see the posts on the Chosen Are Called Chicago Tournament for comparison). Winning the league is an outside consideration for that particular game, just like how winning/placing in an overall tournament is an outside consideration for a finals game. Or at least that's the impression that I'm getting... Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] As the league is not sanctioned they may even play to loose.

[ quoted text not captured ] Not at all. Even without tournament rules, that would be clearly in constrast with the object of the game explained at the veru beginning of rulebook. regards Emiliano, v:ekn Prince of Rome

Well, it could be argued that playing for fun is an even more important rule (at least for casual games). In casual games, you can play "VTES" however you like (even, ::gasp::, with card limits). Thus if you really want to run a League that way, have fun. Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] It's up to the judge/organizer. If the "sportsmanship" rules are used and interpretted to mean "play to win each game", then out of game considerations are not to be used. If the organizer extends the concept to "play to win the series", then there you go. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. For the league I think that I use this interpretation: the main objective is to win the league, not the current table... on the other side it's unsportsmanlike to oust a player because he his potentially the league winner (and only for this fact alone) or because he is the only player that can reach you for the number of GW. It's a very difficult problem to solve. The main action is to have the league leaders at different tables: so they can play for win the table (and the league) and the above situation is avoided. The downside of this solution can be the fact you need to have a lot of different tables ... but I suggest to use the "maximum number" of 4 player tables: if you have 20 player you can have 5 table of 4 people instead of 4 table of 5 people. OK? Best regards & !malk deranges RavATwoFaces - VEKN Italian NC
