I have questions regarding the use of various Path cards in
conjunction with the new multi-discipline and dual discipline cards.
Specifically, when does the cost reducing effect of a Path properly
come into play? I have some suppostitions but would prefer
confirmation.
1) Dual Discipline Cards
As an example let us consider the purported characteristics of
Nightmare Curse (as reported in Spoilers):
Nightmare Curse (R1)
Auspex+Chimerstry
Action
2 blood
chi : (D) Tap a ready minion and untap this acting vampire.
aus+chi : (D) Put this card on a ready minion and tap that minion.
This minion doesn't untap as normal. During the minion's controller's
untap, he or she may burn a pool to untap this minion. Burn this card
when this acting vampire leaves play.
AUS+CHI : (D) Put this card on a ready minion and tap that minion. The
minion with this card doesn't untap as normal. Burn this card when the
acting vampire leaves play.
Since this card _requires_ chimerstry to play I would think that The
Path of Paradox would reduce the cost from 2 blood to 1 blood (per the
card text of Path). I would also think that Gabrin'ability would
affect the playing of this card (reducing the cost by another blood).
2) Multi-discipline cards
I don't know whether there is a card of this description in
Bloodlines, but let us assume that this will come up in some regard
now or in the future: a multi-discipline card with two disciplines
(one inferior only and one at inferior and superior) of which one
discipline has a Path. In what circumstances would the cost reduction
of the Path come into play?
I would suppose that the Path would work only when playing the card at
the level requiring the Path discipline. Ergo, a [chi, aus, AUS] card
with a blood cost of 2 would cost 2 blood at all levels unless a The
Path of Paradox was in play, in which case Ravnos would pay 1 if
playing the [chi] ability, but 2 if playing either [aus] or [AUS].
Similarly, an [aus, chi, CHI] card would cost the same Ravnos 2 at
[aus] but only 1 at [chi] or [CHI]. Is this correct?
Thank you
