The card text on all the Assamite vampires says ".. cannot commit Diablerie". Is this an inherent trait of the Assamites (in V:TES, not in Vampire)? Specific examples: 1) An Assamite plays Revelation of the Sire on a Caitiff. Can the Caitiff still diablerize? 2) An Assamite plays Clan Impersonation. Can he diablerize? 3) An non-Assamite plays Clan Impersonation and impersonates an Assamite. Can he diablerize? By card text, (1) and (3) are be legal, (2) would be illegal. If all Assamites cannot diablerize, then (1) is illegal since the ex-Caitiff is now an Assamite. If Clan Impersonation means the vampire really switches clans, (2) is legal, (3) is illegal. If Clan Impersonation means the vampire only impersonates another clan (2) is illegal, (3) is legal. Anyone want to answer this? Tom? Brian

Yes, it is inherent to all Assamites that they can not commit Diablerie. A cast was put on the clan by the Tremere. This was done because the Assamites would not drink the blood of the victors during the one of the Cam/Sabbat wars. So the Tremere were asked to cast this spell on the Assamites as a penalty. This is taken from the Vampire the Masq. book "The Sabbat". Randy.

THe revealation of the sire is up for grabs. I would say they can still diabliarize to keep it simple but the feel should make them not be able to. The Ref at refplace.best.com

I believe we decided that it wasn't worth it to... 1) allow ex-Assamites to commit diablerie 2) prohibit vampires who become Assamites from committing diablerie 3) prohibit Progeny, etc. of Assamites from committing diablerie But I am going to have to double check on that. Actually, the spell was cast on the Clan because they were diablerizing every vampire they met (or close to it), and the Camarilla was afraid that the Assamites would eliminate all the other Clans if left unchecked. At no point would an Assamite not drink from a fallen victim, except for those who have suffered the Curse of the Tremere. That's why the Assamites hate the Tremere so much. -- Mike Miller mum...@uxa.ecn.bgu.edu http://www.ECNet.Net/users/mumjm02/home.html

Impersonators can't, deep down, deny who they are. ;-) My $0.02 'Nis

I think that was the smart call. The other fits the flavor but this keeps it simple by using card text and minimizes arguments. The Ref at refplace.best.com

Card text above all. That should simplify things, although some of it will run far from the game-world "reality". For instance, an Assamite (or other Vampire with the 'Non-Cam' card text) who impersonates a "Camarilla" clan will still be considered a Non-Camarilla vampire (unless he also has a Writ of Acceptance or has received the benefit of an acceptance vote /called prior to impersonation/ - since it won't benefit him after impersonation). Similarly, a vampire who doesn't have the "Non-Camarilla" text can impersonate a Non-Camarilla clan, and still be an camarilla. Similarly, a Justicar of Clan1 who impersonates Clan2 will still be the Clan1 Justicar (by card text). Any mis-interpretations so far, TOM? (I personally think this is the best way to go - having game-world concept override card text may make sense some of the time, but will eventually lead to far more headaches than it is worth). -- L. I believe, in the spirit of the role-playing game, that 1) Assamites who change clans via Clan Impersonation a) become Camarilla and b) still cannot commit diablerie. 2) Other clans that switch to Assamite via Clan Impersonation a) become Non-Camarilla and b) still may commit diablierie. 3) Assamites who create Progeny through the Progeny cards pass on The Curse and that the Progeny cannot commit diablerie. The whole reason why Assamites cannot commit diablerie is because the Tremere cursed the bloodline. If Brachah the Brujah Impersonates a Brujah, he is still of the Brujah bloodline, and therefore, evades The Curse. If Parnassus the Assamite Impersonates a Brujah, he is still a part of the Assamitical bloodline, and therefore, is subject to The Curse.
