Those damn newbies...

While playng with some newbies I have met some new rules. It seems that while equipping one simply decides the equip action and waits for a block *without* revealing the equipment card. Is this true? Another thing: how does Return to innocence relate with M1000Faces? This situation has occured: Anneke does the RtI. Prey declines to block (!). Watenda (3 cap) takes the action. What happens then? Does the action fizzle because Watty hasn't got 4 blood? If he had, what would the bleed be? 4 or 11? and who would be burned? Sorry for this being x-posted, but it's the best way to get many good answers. Thanks! David Pontes 8[

Is this true? No. Perhaps what they're thinking of is transfering equipment. I don't remember it precisely, but if you're blocked while trying to transfer equipment, the equipment stays with the minion that initially has it.. -j

The real benefit of M1000Faces is that you can transfer actions to others who don't have a certain discipline, etc. I hope this is right, since M1000Faces is one of the most misunderstood cards in the game.... ################################################################# # Judas Iscariot ju...@gladstone.uoregon.edu 541.302.5722 # # gzu...@cs.uoregon.edu # # # # "Naked Chic Air Freshners Rule!" - Beavis # #################################################################

Correct (and, the action fizzles when it resolves, since Watenda cannot pay the cost). Is this errataed? It's in the rulebook that "to equip/employ retainer/call a vote the vampire taps and anouces she's A/B/C", and makes no mention to revealing the card or saying what's the card being used (except for votes when you read the text of the card and decide on the details, but that's only after blocking attepts have been resolved). > >> Anneke does the RtI. (Thinly stretched logic follows to "explain" how to arrive at the correct ruling from the terrible VtES Basic/Advance Rules-soup): Each of the actions' desciptions begin with "such-and-such card required". By requiring you to have the card in order to take the action, the rules force you to play the card as you attempt the action. (And library cards are never played face down). The descriptions ("Announce action. Place card on acting minion.") are written the way they are (in the Basic section) because such actions are unblockable in the Basic game, so little attention was paid to timing. >> >> Anneke does the RtI. (no matter who masked who) Correct, as in the Watenda example (final bleed of 4 - which fizzles). -- L. When you declare that you're doing somethihg, you play the card. Also, (this came up a few months back) in combat, when you declare a strike, you play the card. There is no "War"-like simultaneous revealing as some people thought. Or is it just a feel? The combat bit is simple: you *don't* have to actually show the card, but you must state what is the strike and what's the effect (there's no question on who goes first -- it's detailed on the rulebook). Anyway, once the card hits the ash pile anyone's entitled to see it, so... The fact is that I fail to see a place on the rules that actually states how these actions are to be performed (wether with hidden or revealed card). Can someone see it? The feel I get is that everyone used to play it with revealed cards, but that wasn't actually on the rules (kind of collective unconscious (: ). It's those damn newbies that come from other games who come up with this stuff :( David Pontes 8[

There is sort of an exception for votes--for example, you don't know who is going to be targeted by a Conservative Agitation when the time comes to vote, but you do know it will be a Conservative Agitation. In order to perform any action that requires a card, whether it be Employing a Retainer, Equiping, or Bleeding with Computer Hacking, you must play the card required. You then imediately draw a card to replace it. While it is sitting on the table, the other players a free to pick it up and read it, if they so choose. > @ \_____/ David Schwartz \__________________________/ > Ritaxis, Who thinks the game would be very different if all you had to say was "I'm Bleeding you." when you had Return to Innocence.
