immediately after being successfully blocked by a younger vamp (i.e.
another meth's vamp attempts to block my un-stealthed bleed and i don't
increase my older vamp's stealth, therefore our vamps enter combat) can i
use my owl companion to see the other meth's hand and then play superior
thoughts betrayed before the other meth can play anything (like thoughts
betrayed)?
can i play the inferior version of aura reading to see the other meth's
hand and then play superior thoughts betrayed before the other meth can
play anything?
okay, now my vamp has successfully blocked a younger vamp, can i play
obedience before the other meth plays thoughts betrayed?
can any combat cards be played (or any retainers used, specifically an owl
companion or a ghoul escort) before an obedience?
i would appreciate yes/no answers followed by explanations...thanks in
advance...

No. The Rules Team has made it clear that Thoughts Betrayed is played
before combat is entered (as combat is entered). There is no opportunity
to view the opponents' hand with an Owl Companion before deciding to
play TB.

No.
Aura reading definitely comes long after the opportunity to play TB.
(Same reason as above).

Yes. All action modifiers/reaction cards "beat" Thought Betrayed -
which is the last thing to be played before combat begins.

No (Ghoul Escort - Yes).
No - Obedience comes before all combat effects.
Ghoul Escort is not a combat card - it is a when blocked card.
You burn the Ghoul instead of going to the combat step, which
effectively denies the prospect of playing Obedience.
