Notable exceptions are S:CE and Steal Blood. Steal Blood strikes resolve first, so that the stolen blood may be used to heal damage (note the difference between heal damage and prevent damage). So let's say the Tremere in question is Sarah Peach Cobbler, who is a 4 with THA dom (or is it THA aus? No matter...). Let's say she has 3 blood. Her opponent, Crusher, decides to punch her for 5. (He's got a really big fist.) Sarah decides to Theft (Thieve?). Here's what happens: Strikes are declared. Strikes resolve, but the Steal Blood effect resolves first. Sarah steals 2 blood from Crusher, but since she is only a four, and this would give her 3+2=5 blood, the extra one drains off. Now Crusher's strike resolves, doing 5 damage. Sarah can only heal 4 of the damage, so the fifth sends her to torpor with no blood. If Sarah had been a 5 (maybe she learned how to be more Dominant), then the excess would not have drained off, and she would have not been torporized. Hope this helps. If it's aggravated damage, you go to = torpor... > Situation: I'm in ranged combat against a Tremere with 2 blood, and = use > Thrown Sewer Lid (3 damage). He chooses to strike with superior Theft = of > Vitae. Does he still go into torpor? What amount of blood does he have > if he does?=20 >=20 Actually, it depends on the Tremere's capacity. 1) See, if he has capacity 2, the stolen blood is lost, so he takes 3 = damage and goes to torpor with no blood. 2) If he has capacity 3 he steals 2 blood but only holds one, and then = burns 3 blood because of the damage. So he doesn't go to torpor but = stays with 0 blood. 3) If his capacity is 4 or more he steals 2 blood, therefore he then has = 4 blood, of which he burns 3 for damage. He remains with 1 blood. Note that if the damage was aggravated (say one of you played Dawn = Operation) he would be burned in situation 1) (3 agg. damage, 2 blood) = and go to torpor on the other two cases, with zero blood in 2) and 1 = blood in 3). You would have lost 2 (stolen) blood in any case, but would = never go to torpor since it isn't damage (even with Dawn Operation). Hope I helped, Tito

No !!! Your statement is wrong and the above 1-3 are perfectly correct. From V:tES Complete Rules Reference (version 2.10) from LSJ under section V.D.2.iv: iv. Steal Blood. Removes blood from the opponent and places it on this Vampire. Blood stolen in excess of this Vampire's blood capacity is burned. Stolen blood may be used to heal damage (step c). (8.3) Michael

Blork!Ack!<cough><splutter> where the heck did you get that from? thats just not true. Any blood stolen above a vampires capacity is lost immediately. Dont tell the newbies such things!! Flux gave a fine answer. As did Mark+Judy. James B.

Incorrect. Blood in excess of capacity always drains off immediately. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@regency.wizards.com) Official VtES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. Stealing blood doesn't prevent damage. Taking and not preventing aggravated damage results in torpor. > Situation: I'm in ranged combat against a Tremere with 2 blood, and use > Thrown Sewer Lid (3 damage). But the strikes' effects (damage and steal blood, etc.) resolve before the 'heal damage' step, so the freshly stolen blood can then be used to heal the damage (even though the damage was applied at the same time that the blood was stolen).
