Folks: Where can I find a copy of the tournament rules, in particular the rules under which the Sabbat Draft and the Sealed Deck tournaments will be run at Origins? I am, of course, referring to the ones sponsored, according to the Origins booklet, by Wizards of the Coast. ;) Also, what is the schedule for the NJL games at Origins? This section deals with Rochester Draft, so it doesn't apply to the Origins event (which is a Booster Draft), but here it is anyhow: 737. Rules for V:TES Rochester Draft Tournaments This rule works in conjunction with Section 77 and 78 of the Universal Tournament Rules. Players open their first booster packs when the pod judge instructs them to do so. After counting the cards face-down to make sure the pack is correct, players then move all vampire (crypt) cards to the top of the pack face-down. If players do not have the appropriate number of cards in a pack, they must immediately notify the head judge, who will replace the pack. Players then place their opened packs face-down on the table in front of them. At a signal from the pod judge, players place the top two cards from their booster pack [sic] face-up on the table. The pod judge then has players draft according to section 77 and 78 of the Universal Tournament Rules until the packs are completely drafted. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. LSJ: I could not find a reference at this URL to what players use to make their decks during the Sealed tournament. I had heard somewhere - probably here :) - that it was a starter and 2 boosters. At least that is implied under the Universal Tournament rules. Also, I presume that the Booster Draft will follow the same format as a Magic:tG Booster Draft?? Let me know, please and thanks. Assuming that the preceding is true, I do respectfully think that these formats are not the best fit for V:TES. While these formats work well for Magic, the resultant V:TES decks are weaker than they should/could be. I realize we've had this discussion before (are there any original discussions left in this game?), and, to some extent, it doesn't make a lot of difference so long as there is a level playing field. Nonetheless, it is more fun to play with smoother deck, so that for example, you're not stuck with a fist full of Potence cards while all you have in play are Malkavians. Anyway, my $0.02. I'll see you there!!! [ quoted text not captured ]

It is whatever the coordinator chooses (as in Draft). In the case of the V:TES Sealed game on Friday at Origins, WotC will be providing 1 V:TES starter and 3 V:TES base set boosters per player. > Also, I presume that the Booster Draft will follow the same format as a > Magic:tG Booster Draft?? Only inasfar as they both follow the Universal Booster Draft rules. [DCI UTR 74] The only V:TES-specific rule regarding limited-format play is the deck size rule (40 - 90 cards in the library, standard 12+ crypt). In sealed deck play, there is no way to alter this situation, other than having the coordinator provide vampires they way MTG coordinator provide basic land. In draft play, it would be wiser not to draft a "fist full of Potence cards" while also drafting nothing but Malkavians, IMO. That decision is ultimately left to the player, though. I tried to put a deck together last night with a starter and *two* boosters and I found it difficult to have a consistent crypt. I would think that the 3rd booster would help a great deal. See you there!! [ quoted text not captured ]

Sorry MadMan, Currently the NJL is not scheduled to run any events at Origins this year. A number of our members will be in attendance though. FYI, NJL will be running some tournaments at GENCON this year. Bernie B.
