1. Rötschreck: I gather that Rötschreck can only be played between the Choose Strikes step and Strike Resolution. Does that mean that if the opposing vampire strikes with first strike, I can elect to resolve his or her strike before playing Rötschreck (as my eligible aggravated strike is yet to be resolved?). 2. Undead Persistance Does Undead Persistance make the vampire Wounded? I would think that it requires additional text. Meaning, that if Francisco Domingo de Polonia plays Entombment against Kyle Strathcona, Cardinal of Canada, and Kyle plays inferior Undead Persistance, he is not wounded _and_ cannot go to torpor. If Polonia plays Wolf Claws during the next round and strikes for 1 aggravated hand, Kyle will get wounded, but will not need to burn any blood (as that was the first point of aggravated damage he recieved, which wounded him, but being Wounded does not send him to torpor, as per undead persistance). Right? -- Bye, Daneel

i'll have a shot at these, while i wait for my dinner to cook... On Thu, 06 Jan 2005 08:25:56 GMT, Daneel <dan...@eposta.hu> scrawled: >1. Rötschreck: > >I gather that Rötschreck can only be played between the Choose Strikes >step and Strike Resolution. more anytime after a minion declares an attempt to inflict agg damage (usually just DURING the choose strike phase). let's try a corner case example: vamp A is acting, B is blocking. A plays Rapid Thought sup, making B choose strike before A does. B chooses 'hand, agg w/ wolf claws'. B can now play Rotschrek even before A chooses a strike. > Does that mean that if the opposing vampire >strikes with first strike, I can elect to resolve his or her strike before >playing Rötschreck (as my eligible aggravated strike is yet to be >resolved?). nope, played during choose strike (if you're using a strike to trigger the effect, which you will be 99.99% of the time), before any strikes are resolved. First Strike means nothing to the Choose Strike step, it only has meaning in Resolve Strikes. >2. Undead Persistance > >Does Undead Persistance make the vampire Wounded? I would think that it >requires additional text. UP does not make you wounded. wounding a vampire makes him wounded, which is what will normally create the opportunity to play UP. >Meaning, that if Francisco Domingo de Polonia plays Entombment against >Kyle Strathcona, Cardinal of Canada, and Kyle plays inferior Undead >Persistance, he is not wounded _and_ cannot go to torpor. First Strike means nothing to the Choose Strike step, it > only has meaning in Resolve Strikes. Correct. Except the 99.99% is 100% as of RTR 02-DEC-2004. http://www.thelasombra.com/rules/RTR120204.txt > >2. Undead Persistance > > > >Does Undead Persistance make the vampire Wounded? As far as I can see, a vampire who plays Undead Persistence to avoid torpor from Entombment is still wounded and still must burn blood to avoid destruction if he receives aggravated damage in the same combat. Undead Persistence card text: "(although he or she is still considered wounded and can be burned as normal)" LSJ on the same question on 11-Jan-2001: http://groups-beta.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/313bf1335b50f482 Josh undeadly

I didn't read the example close enough. The Persistent vampire is considered wounded, regardless of the nature of the effect that enabled him to play Persistence. [ quoted text not captured ]
