Situation: vamp A bleeds for 3. He's blocked by vamp B and plays sup. Drawing out the Beast. Vamp B plays a S:CE. Q: Is the damage from DOtB aggravated?

I'm assuming that, as the title suggests, vamp A also plays a Dawn Op? =) >Q: >Is the damage from DOtB aggravated? The damage from DotB *would* be aggravated but note that since vamp B plays S:CE, the DotB never gets a chance to do its damage. So short answer: yes. Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] I think he meant Rotchreck or something, not dawn op.

I think I already know the answer. I keep on thinking that the only thing that was changed on DOtB, was the "only one per combat"-thing. I keep on forgetting that wording has been changed from "ofter each round" to "during the press step." My bad sorry Jeroen

[ quoted text not captured ] *looks left*looks right* where the hell did you get rotschrek from? (and don't you dare say "a jyhad booster" O:) anyway, as has been said, Drawing Out the Beast was errata'd, and now reprinted (which means it's not officially errata'd, it's just different to what it used to be) to change it's one unpreventable damage to occur during the press step[1], and to only be able to play one per combat. so in the above example there is no damage being inflicted by DotB, because you never get to the press step, because combat ends from the s:ce. [1]LSJ: does the damage occur before or after the minions get to play presses, or does the meth who played DotB get to choose when exactly it kicks in within the press step? thanks, salem.

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Correct, since DOtB's damage is done during the press step, which is never reached. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Links to revised rulebook, rulings, errata, and tournament rules: http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/

I'm not silly enough to say that it completely neuters DOtB (although I wanted to), since it still fulfills its primary purpose, but it just seems like an annoying unnecessary change. Blech.

Only if you block. Or play 8 DotB's, but that makes it a 10-card combo (get into combat, 8 DotB's, and either S:CE or SoS, because you really don't want to eat that 9 strength punch). I had a Dawn Op, DotB, FoM deck, and while it was decent, people soon learned to stop blocking my bleeds for 1 or 2. I suppose Tier of Souls would have helped if I'd had any, but Laptops and Computer Hackings just don't give enough bleed power fast enough, as the Nosferatu stealth bleed decks have learned. Also, the fact that the combo requires 3 superior disciplines makes it even tougher. Ah well, I guess it's a moot point, but it makes me sad that I have to rework my aus/ani intercept deck which wasn't even very strong to begin with.

[snip stuff about drawing out the beast] i think one of the big problems was you only needed ANI and pro to make a very very rude combat deck. rush. drop X+1 DotB, where X is the amount of blood on the minion you are in combat with. Earth Meld. scatter with the odd maneuver (form of the ghost, quick meld, etc) in case of IG decks. with PRO instead of pro, you can untap and take some other sort of rush action. You stuff your deck with a silly amount of DotB, as you can always cycle excess ones each combat until you get to your next rush or s:ce. it was rude. the amount of effort you needed to invest to torporise opposing vamps was too little, with too little chance of getting out of it, or getting slapped back. however, it now can't be done. praise the lord. salem.
