this card may attempt to block a D action against you "as a 9 capacity infernal vampire with +2 intercept". What is the clan of this vampire? the sect? Is it independent / Baali? What if the vampire that played the action card was say Dylan Advanced? Assuming it is Baali, is there a window when this vampire blocks the action during which it can play Bloodstorm of Chorazin before its trigger effect resolves? If so, what happens? Does that prevent the rest of the Hell's Fury text from resolving (i.e. agg damage and burn the card)?

Vincent

[ quoted text not captured ] Clanless independant vampire (the default) It is not Baali so can't play BoC.

botipeti

[ quoted text not captured ] What about Virolax Facility? Can it trigger its effect? Virolax Facility Master: unique location. When a vampire you control with capacity above 7 is burned, burn this card and search your crypt for a vampire with capacity below 5. Place that vampire in your ready region with 1 blood. That vampire cannot act this turn.

BeAst

[ quoted text not captured ] Doubtful, its a card that may block "as a vampire", not a vampire in its own right. ta B

It is not a vampire. It is just a card that is able to block as a vampire. The capacity is given for the sake of action modifiers that deny younger/older vampires their block option. It doesn't count as a minion otherwise and won't benefit/suffer from abilities that target other vampires (tribute to the master, banishment, con. boon etc). Also it cannot be tapped with misdirection for instance. Unleash hell's fury also mentions something about: Burn this CARD when the block is successful so it won't trigger Facility since no vampire is being burned.

[ quoted text not captured ] I'm curious what cards interact with this card blocking as an infernal vampire? Any block fails kind of effects that specify infernals being excluded or specifically included? (Ah, True Faith I guess, any others?)

[ quoted text not captured ] > Clanless independent vampire (the default) > It is not Baali so can't play BoC. Correct.

Salem

[ quoted text not captured ] Notorious Brutality Type: Action Modifier Requires: sabbat, capacity above 7 Cost: 1 blood Requires a Sabbat vampire with capacity above 7. Only usable as the action is announced. Non-infernal vampires with capacity less than 6 cannot block this action. Rarity: SoC:C hmm...not quite relevant, as it's capacity is above 5 anyway. But I guess True Faith still applies, plus gives more interesting interactions down the line with new cards... -- salem (replace 'hotmail' with 'gmail' to email)

Notorious Brutality prevents low-cap non-infernals from blocking. This pseudo-vampire is a high enough cap that it's not relevant, but... -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR. Hi, - Can the acting minion play Kiss of Ra at superior on an attempt to block from Unleash Hell's Fury ? If he can, which one is it - a/ Unleash Hell's Fury be placed in the "controlled by not ready" region, - Can Elder Impersonation sup' be played against Unleash Hell's Fury? If Elder Impersonation is played against Unleash Hell's Fury, can the card attempt to block anew ? (I'm not sure it would be the "same minion" if triggered a second time). - If Faceless Night sup' is played on an attempt to block with Unleash Hell's Fury, and the attempt is not successful, is the card tapped? Thanks, Pascal. ~~ Unleash Hell's Fury Cardtype: Action Discipline: Daimonium (Burn option) Cost: 2 pool +1 stealth action. Requires an infernal vampire. Unique. (dai): Put this card in play. This card may attempt to block a (D) action against you and is considered a 9-capacity infernal vampire with +2 intercept during that attempt. If successful, the action minion takes 1 unpreventable aggravated damage and this card is burned. (DAI): As above and untap this vampire. Elder Impersonation Cardtype: Action Modifier Cost: 1 blood Discipline: Obfuscate [obf] +1 stealth. [OBF] Only usable when a minion attempts to block. The attempt fails (do not tap that blocking minion). That minion cannot attempt to block this action again. Faceless Night Cardtype: Action Modifier Discipline: Obfuscate [obf] +1 stealth. [OBF] +1 stealth, and any minion who attempts to block this action and fails becomes tapped when the action is resolved (before resolving the action). The Kiss of Ra Cardtype: Action Modifier Cost: 3 blood Discipline: Fortitude Only usable when a vampire who does not have Fortitude attempts to block this acting minion. [for] The block attempt is canceled, the blocking vampire burns 2 blood, and the current action is ended (without combat). [FOR] As above, and send the blocking vampire to torpor.

Hi, [sorry for the previous post, I accidently hit "Send" when trying to insert tabulations ...] - Can the acting minion play Kiss of Ra at superior on an attempt to block from Unleash Hell's Fury ? If he can, which one is it - a/ Unleash Hell's Fury is placed in the "controlled by not ready" region b/ Unleash Hell's Fury stops faking being a vampire when KoR reads "the blockin attempt is cancelled", and is therefore not affected by the rest of the card - Can Elder Impersonation sup' be played against Unleash Hell's Fury? If Elder Impersonation sup' is played against Unleash Hell's Fury, [ quoted text not captured ]

No. It would be the same minion. > - If Faceless Night sup' is played on an attempt to block with > Unleash Hell's Fury, and the attempt is not successful, is the card > tapped? Tapped, no. It's not a minion when the FN effect comes to tap the minion. But it wouldn't matter. The card doesn't need to be untapped in order to attempt to block.

When it's attempting to block, it's a vampire, and vampires need to be tapped to attempt to block. Although I guess he can only *become* a vampire if he attempts to block... More questions around this weird card. - When the Unleash card attempts to block as a vampire, can I Heidelberg a Sports Bike onto him? If the answer is yes, then - what happens if the block attempt succeeds? I'm guessing Sports Bike burns when he does? - what happens if the block attempt fails? I'm guessing the Sports Bike burns when he stops being a vampire? - If an acting vampire has a Dominion card on him, I'm guessing the Unleash card can't attempt to block, since doing so requires burning blood, of which he has none? If the answer is yes, then is there a window when he has become a vampire but before he has failed to attempt to block during which he can have blood Heidelberged onto him? - If an acting vamprie plays Crocodile Tongue on the Unleash vampire, can I Heidelberg blood onto him for him to burn to cancel the card? - If an acting vampire is blocked by an Unleash vampire, what happens if the acting minion plays a Change of Target? - Can the Unleash card blocking as a vampire play a Coterie Tactics? if so, can I name a second vampire to be the blocking vampire? If so, what happens after resolving the action? Dominion Cardtype: Master Master. Put this card on a Black Hand vampire. Vampires must burn 1 blood to attempt to block this Black Hand vampire. A vampire can have only one Dominion. Coterie Tactics Cardtype: Reaction Choose another ready untapped vampire you control of the same sect as this reacting vampire. These two vampires attempt to block, using the sum of their intercept to see if the block succeeds. If successful, both tap and then you choose one to be the blocking vampire (and the other ceases to be blocking). Crocodile's Tongue Cardtype: Action Modifier Discipline: Auspex [aus] Only usable when an ally or a younger vampire attempts to block. That block is canceled (the minion is not tapped). The blocking minion's controller cannot attempt to block this action again. The blocking minion can cancel this card by burning a blood or life. [AUS] As above, but canceling this card requires an additional blood or life. Change of Target Cardtype: Action Modifier Only usable when this acting minion is blocked (play before combat, if any). Untap the acting minion, do not tap the blocking minion, and end the current action (it is not successful). This minion cannot perform the same action again this turn.

IANLSJ, but... When it's attempting to block, it's a vampire, and > vampires need to be tapped to attempt to block. Although I guess he > can only *become* a vampire if he attempts to block... You just answered your own question. Card text does not refer to whether UHF is untapped or not, WRT its ability. Perhaps it would be more clear if it read, "...is considered a 9-capacity UNTAPPED vampire..."? But I think that could be assumed. The "tapped-ness" of the card does not equate to the "tapped-ness" of the vampire it becomes. > More questions around this weird card. > > - When the Unleash card attempts to block as a vampire, can I > Heidelberg a Sports Bike onto him? I don't think there would be anything inherently wrong with using another permanent's effect during the attempt to block. Not Heidelberg Castle, however. The final sentence on HC reads, "Cannot be used during an action." (If you were tapping Heidelberg Castle to move intercept retainers and/or equipment around to block an action already declared and still in progress, you should know that doesn't work.) > If the answer is yes, then > - what happens if the block attempt succeeds? Again, moot. Heidelberg cannot be used during an action. > - If an acting vamprie plays Crocodile Tongue on the Unleash vampire, > can I Heidelberg blood onto him for him to burn to cancel the card? Moot. > - If an acting vampire is blocked by an Unleash vampire, what happens > if the acting minion plays a Change of Target? Card text of CoT: Acting minion untaps. Card text of UHF: Acting minion takes agg damage. UHF burns. > - Can the Unleash card blocking as a vampire play a Coterie Tactics? > if so, can I name a second vampire to be the blocking vampire? If so, > what happens after resolving the action? I would assume acting minion takes agg damage and UHF is once again burned. After all, these are the effects for UHF when a block is successful, which are the same conditions as those which allow you to choose one vampire or the other to thereafter be the blocking vampires. If you choose UFH to be the blocking vampire thereafter, the action would end regardless of what happened after the acting vampire took his damage. If you choose the other vampire and the acting vampire didn't go torpor somehow (e.g. Heart of Darkness), then combat would ensue. I'm not sure how sect is determined for UHF, though.
